Got to love Utah weather. sunny one minute... snow the next. I was not happy to walk out to a snow covered truck this morning. spent all day in the garden yesterday, now its just going to be a muddy mess for a few days.

Lisa, I have some pullets out of my golden cuckoo marans project pen that I can let go. I'm only keeping the ones that hatched out brown. There might be a couple extra olive egger pullets in addition to the ones you want as well but I have to be careful to not sell out of those because I'll need some to complete pullet orders later in the season when I have the other requested breeds available. Hopefully there are more girls among the younger babies I have yet to decide male/female.

I went in to talk to the kids in the class who are watching my latest batch of chicks hatch. They were so cute. After they went to lunch, I candled. I was a little worried because the "low temp" warning was flashing. That means that at some point over the past 5 days, temps dropped below 95. But, when I candled, I saw 7/7 healthy babies wriggling around at 5 days in. Yay!

I went in to talk to the kids in the class who are watching my latest batch of chicks hatch. They were so cute.  After they went to lunch, I candled. I was a little worried because the "low temp" warning was flashing. That means that at some point over the past 5 days, temps dropped below 95.  But, when I candled, I saw 7/7 healthy babies wriggling around at 5 days in. Yay!

Love the warning, yes I need to not overindulge. Well, that said, I promised not to hatch more eggs after my SG eggs get here, so in keeping that promise I ordered chicks instead. Because that is what I need...chicks. No. But I needed another turken so I got a few turkens and EE's to come 4/29 lol. But I have people who want the extras, so that is semi-responsible, then I can take my pick of the cutest one, right? Now I really should NOT go to chickenstock. Really! I need to be done with brooders, I can feel the end is near.....

So glad those little chickies are doing well! Are these some of your marans/legbar mixes? Are you going to do the hatchcam on these?

My paint and mixed SG eggs shipped today, finally! yay! 16 paint from one, and a dozen+ mixed from another and she said "I hope you like extras"! So yay yay! Now I just need to get two girls for me and a few more chicks for "the monster...." so let's set a goal to get 8 chicks to hatch. Anything more than that will make me very very happy. karma should come back around for me for all the eggs I have tossed, right? let's cross fingers for many gentle postal employees this next two days.
