does anyone here want a good outdoor cat? there is this male or at least we think its a male cat that has been living at walmart for several months and my brother who works there wants to find him a good home. he is a great mouser and a very friendly cat when he gets to know you. he could be a indoor cat i am sure. he is a siamese. could be a good cat to have around the coop. my brother thinks a lot of this cat and would love to find him a good home. cynthia he could be a great cat for you.... he would take care of the mice

Can't wait to breed my Brahma hens. Wish there was a breeder nearby. I love big Brahmas. One of my hens would be great if only she were big enough. But I love my Sizzle so much. It makes me want a frizzled Brahma. Unlikely, I know... But still. xD

I'm considering ordering a bunch of chicks next year just for meat. Staying away from the usual, looking for possible breeds. I'm mainly doing it for the experience. But that will hopefully teach me that my life is not over, I can wait a few more years to get some other breeds and stick with what I have along with my birds' offspring. xD

Birdman, awww! I wish I could take him, but we already have three cats.

And my BF has two. One adopted from the shelter, one that was abandoned and adopted my BF. I hate it when animals are left homeless.

Does anyone want a baby mallard? One of the BYC'ers local to where I am has hatched one that he says is a male, about a week old now. He can't keep him and he has to find him a new home. If someone wants him, I am willing to help get him transported. I would take him, but I'm not set up for ducks and I worry that he wouldn't do well here.

I have some Faverolle eggs coming too!  Should be here tomorrow.  My little bantam lays every day!  It's going on three weeks that she had laid every single day.  So, I thought, I need a LF in this breed!    I also have some Houdans coming..didn't know you could get eggs..guessing they are from a hatchery?  Or did you find a breeder with eggs?   My babies will be here on May 6th, supposed to be all girls.  Also, three LF cochin.  And two brown leghorns.     Fun..

My fav's will come whenever the houdans start laying. They are from a breeder. U of A stock. I got some eggs directly from U of A, but they arrived prescrambled :cries

I need a boy, go figure.

Also, as many of you know, I'm sure... I'm quickly learning that you have to clean the brooder out much more frequently with 9 chicks than with 4... (My wife thought there was a dead mouse in a wall... nope... it was just the chicks in the room across the basement! oops!) Now they're all clean and super happy!

OMG I can relate to this. Last year, I had four most at the same time. This year, six, and eight, and have a dozen due next week. I think I have a problem...

Speaking of meat birds...I also have 18+ white bresse eggs coming. They are going to be my sustainable meat flock. Next year, I should be able to help you with hatching eggs. Of all my breeds, I really am excited about my bresse. My dad is too. He keeps trying to convince me to process one of my layers I tell him there are plenty of roosters.

If you find a coop you like give me the plans(or pictures), you buy the material, and i will build it for a small fee. Its way cheaper then buying one. Im really good at finding used material that can be recycled for dirt cheap. i work in the finish end of home construction and have a lots of ideas to save money.

You are welcome!  Guess what?  The black that didn't go, is definitely a frizzle!   I think I will keep it after all and hope for a girl.  Those wings are really turning every which way..how about yours?

My husband wants me to raise meat birds. My problem is, I much prefer boneless, skinless breasts. So, there's a bit of a problem there, lol.

I think the one legbar that's hatched is a girl. So excited! I'm torn. On one hand, I want more to hatch NOW because I'm impatient. On the other hand, it'd be cooler for the first graders to watch it happen live. So they SHOULD wait til tomorrow morning.

Thanks Lisa and Cynthia. I gave them a wet bath and brushed them with the kids toothbrush. (dont tell the kids) They are looking a lot better. The little one that looked really bad turned out to have chipmunk stripes. Any guesses on colors yet. Looks like my splash rooster is a mutt and is hiding more colors then i could have guessed. Oh well. They still need some brushing and fluffing.

Welcome Shmeal, I am in Logan also Want some chicks? LOL

I have decided I am taking 18 chicks to chickenstock. Some are already sold, but some not, I am pretty proud of myself for parting with a good bunch of these little stinkers. They are becoming stinkers...seriously haha!

I am down from 5 brooders to 3 now e I put more teenagers out in the run today. My hens don't even look over anymore, they are probably disgusted with me

I am so excited. Less shavings to clean out of the waterers now for sure.... I have one more batch of SG eggs hatching next week that is unfortunately looking like a very small hatch, so I am going to combine two more brooders after I take chicks on Saturday, so I can stay at three. I have got to get out of the brooder business. OUT!

Three left to go!! Woot!
