I picked up a bunch of old wheat a week or so ago from an estate sale. The man called and left a message on my phone today asking if i want any more wheat. Its free and is good for chicken feed. He sounded desperate so I'm thinking he might have a couple hundred pounds. He says its not in bags so you would have to bring buckets to transport it. I am trying to get my truck running so have no way to get it. i picked up 450 pounds from him and i know there was at least 70 to 80 pounds in 1 gallon size cans left. If anyone is interested pm my and i will give you his info. There was a lot of rolled oats but i don't feed this to chickens but would work great for live stock. Its in Orem on 1200 n just off of the freeway.

I didn't know you could feed chickens wheat. I would be interested in it if its safe to feed. Do you give it to them just like a treat, or you can put it out in their feeders all the time.

i give them a couple cups in the morning and a couple in the evening. The doves and wild quail do have their fill. If you feed your hens pellets then it would be a treat like cracked corn. They do need grit if you feed them this wheat as a treat since it is whole grains. If they are free range and eat little rocks and stones then they will eat it up. If they are con find to a coop and run and only eat pellets and have no access to grit then this wouldn't be good for them. It is a 12% protein treat. i give my flock a mixed grain feed in a feeder and throw wheat out on the ground for them to scratch at . speaking of feed i need to order more. If any one wants some feed i am placing an order. My order will cover freight as long as it not over 1500 pounds, that leaves 1000 lbs. They deliver to my house so you will have to come pick it up from me unless you order 500 lbs and they will deliver as far as Davis county but not sure how far in. Its a 3 grain mix and is at 14 % protein. i paid $100.00 for 500 lbs last time. You just have to add oyster shell at 9 dollars a bag and it will last 1500 lbs.

Actually I'm brand new, and right now I'm still feeding Chick Starter. Oldest chicks are almost 6 weeks old. They will be in an outside dirt run, and then will free range during the day in the side yard, that has dirt, grass, and weeds. Hopefully the weeds will be gone sometime this year. So I'm still learning what I need to feed them. I did give them some meal worms today when they were outside in the run. And they went nuts.

I got 4 Pullets (hope they are Pullets, haven't had much luck) from her 4 weeks ago. She was so nice, and extremely helpful. I learned so much from her, and my chicks are extremely happy, sweet and healthy. I would recommend checking her out for some chicks.

Hope everyone has safe travels to Chicken Stock today. I so very wish I didn't live so far away, or I would be going. Probably a good think, cause I would probably want to bring home one of everything.

i have only gotten one roo so far from her, she offered him to me when i got my latest batch of little ones from her two-three days ago to keep one of my older 4-5 week old girls company.

if you get older chicks she will let you know if the chick is looking boylie

I would be interested. What type of feed? Is it "organic"? $100 for 500lbs would really cut my feed bill...
