So I brought them all in. How warm does it need to be over night for them to say outside all night long?
My six week olds are out
in a pen in the yard during the day, in a wire cage inside the coop at night with no heat lamp. They have been out for a few days and are are doing fine. I am not letting them out of the cage within the coop for another week or so so that they are quick enough to duck and hide from the big girls. They are all LF--Marans, SBEL, NN. My Polish girls are 9 weeks old though and I am still bringing them in at night, they just shiver and are smaller and I feel they are a bit more fragile. Another week or two for them. I think the low 40's at night are ok for 6+ wk olds if they are in a coop at night and have been adjusted to the cooler temps, and there are a few to snuggle for warmth. Some wait a little longer.
