Utah!

I'm heading to see Pawtraitart this morning.

Actually DH has offered to drive me up since I'm suffering from exhaustion
sad.png
. Haven't been able to work on the runs for a couple days and last evening we took the boat out on Starvation Lake
big_smile.png
... only to find the plugs hadn't been put back in when it was serviced for the winter
ep.gif
. Now that was nerve racking!! We got back to the ramp and loaded her back up before she took in too much water, however when we pulled her out she drained so much water you would have thought the entire lake had seeped in. Yikes!!

Just asking and I know this is late (brain has been too tired to work right).... anybody need anything from Pawtraitart?? I'll check back.... Since DH is driving and we also have to pick up a couple cluck clucks from Liliwanis, he won't be in the delivery mood, but I'm sure we can bring down anything to be picked up along I-15 to SLC or I-80 heading to Cheyenne. Let me know, and sorry for the late notice!!

I love visiting Christy at sunny brook at least 85% of my girls are from her, my blue splash roo is from her personal breeding stock. I'm seriously hoping he is mellow enough that my neighbors don't mind him because he is gorgeous

and would go perfectly with his hatch mate BLRW and my older SLW who are both definitely pullets.

Two baby turkeys out this morning! Looks like one Black Spanish, and the other is either a Narragansett or a Pencilled Palm - I didn't get a good enough look at the back pattern. Mama is super protective! But this baby came from the purple egg I grabbed, so I'm hopeful it's a Palm

Three more eggs to go! I am thinking this mystery baby may be a hen, by the looks of the snood. Didn't get a good enough look at the black one, as it was tucked way back under the hen and I didn't want her to take my face off for getting too close.

Yay, and now back to bed for a bit.

So my EE that was in question is sitting outside running up and down the baby grow out pen calling to all the babies. Its so hilarious, she is literally freaking out that she can't find away in there. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. When I put them outside today, 2 adventured right out, and that's when she started talking to them, and then they all flew out of the coop, so now they are all outside following her up and down the fence line. Its hilarious, I really should film it. She's even chasing off the others when they come to look, There is only about 3 weeks apart in age from them all too. So hopefully this will be a good sign that in a week or 2 they call all be outside together.

I'm pretty new to chickens myself. We got our chicks from Cynthia in October and they started laying this Spring. It's been so much fun! The people here have been invaluable in helping me figure out what I'm doing. :)

Cynthia - Your broody girl is too cute! I keep halfway hoping one of my girls will go broody so that I'll have an excuse for some chicks. ;) That Houdan is adorable! Alas, my darling husband said no more chicks until our new coop is actually built. Unfortunately his reasoning is too logical for me to argue against.

sillycmoy - I hope your EE is a girl! I had one that we weren't sure about some folks here thought roo or, at best, either way, looked pretty boyish due to really big, really read comb and wattle...wasn't completely sure until I actually watched her lay an egg. I'm not experienced enough to give my opinion, yet so I'll just hope for you!

Sundance - She is beautiful! I hope the uproar blows over quickly.

I've been doing my best to keep my girls more entertained and keeping a close eye on them. The girls that were pecked seem to be healing up *knock on wood* Hopefully it stays that way. We're going out of town for almost a week on the 12th and my mom and brother will be coming over to care for the chickens and our cats. Hopefully they'll do ok while we're gone. Speaking of going out of town. We're heading up to Eagle, ID on the 12th and coming back the 16th if anyone has chicks that need rides. We won't have a ton of extra space, but we could give a ride or two. :)

I agree everyone on here has been more then helpful! I can even say I've made a couple new friends. Thank you all for making this chicken experience so much fun.

Well, my Houdan just isn't getting any better.

I am not sure what she has. I am not seeing anything similar with my other chicks and chickens. In fact, they are all acting great. I did do the Denagard, but I don't think I will do it another day. Today being two days of it should be fine.
What gets me is, that Houdan is so young to be having an upper respiratory. I got to thinking about it. I've never had a chick with an upper respiratory this young! Anyone else ever see this? So, not sure what is going on there, but she went down hill pretty fast once separated..and I'm convinced that's because of change. They don't do well when stressed. ? Very delicate birds. Now who just said they lost one? That makes 4!

Karen, was it you that asked where to get the Denagard? You can't buy it in a store here. Here is the site we buy it from.

Great stuff to have on hand!

Is it labeled for swine?

Cynthia, your broody mama is beautiful. What breed is she? Congrats on the hatch. Such sweet baby. Missy is such a gorgeous puppy. Love her.

Silly, that EE looks girly to me. Remind me to give you a bit of denagard next time I see you- I have a big bottle, and I'd be happy to share some.

Sundance, wow, that would cause an uproar in the breeding community. But, I know you LOVE that cat, and sometimes it's best for her health to be spayed. How old is your chick? I have chicks that are about 9-10 days old, she could hang out with them. Or, if she's only a day or so old, I have chicks hatching under my broody in 3-4 days, so we could try to sneak her in there.

Welcome, LynnieJo.

Desert, I hope you have fantastic luck with your hatch.

Lisa, I am so excited that your shipped hatch is going so well.

Red, I am SOOOOO excited about your turkeys! I can't wait to see pictures.

Cynthia, I'm sorry your houdan isn't getting any better. Be patient, you never know. Two of my three sick chickens have made a full recovery and are completely healthy now. I never would've guessed they were going to make it.
