I think i found my Christmas wish. Lol

Silly, I'd love to see your flock, especially the birds I gave you. It makes me sad to hear that the BCM is so sickly. I was so proud of fixing her spraddle leg, but it sounds like you're right, it was much more than that, and an actual deformity. I think the sleeping box seems like a good idea.

Ace, I'm pretty good at sexing the laced wyandottes, especially if they're a couple months old. Can't wait to see pictures.

Rykel, congrats on the pipped silkie!! I wonder if they started incubating due to the heat before your broody got to them?

Lisa, those chickens would be in big trouble for digging like that!! You'd think that would be a dog problem, not a chicken problem!

Sara, your earwig in the balloon story made me gag. UGH! Love the crazy chicken lady sign.

My chickens seem to be unearthing a tarp in their run. I expanded my run significantly last summer, and the area was full of weeds and grass. But now I'm seeing what appears to be a tarp. I've lived here 7 years. I wonder what in the world the previous owners were doing to have a tarp out there.

Awesome! I'll try to get them on tonight! :)

That is so funny a tarp. I have lived in this house for 8 years in August, and there has been nothing but dirt, gravel and weeds in back and side yard where the chickens are, and they are digging up all kinds of stuff. And tons, and tons of orange bale twine. it's like growing out of the ground everywhere. I've had huge rocks, lots of 2 x 4's pieces that are not really rotten, metal brackets, 2 stuffed animals, and a few balls, and odd chucks of plastic. So very random stuff. I always go out there and ask them, "girls what did you find for me today" hahaha

That's great! Did you find a new place? Also, i was wondering what kind of dog you have?
Anyways, I personally love my chicken therapists, they always bring a smile to my face. :weee Keep on keeping on. :)
I have a german short hair pointer/pitbull mix. Shes the BEST DOG EVER. I know everybody says that about their dogs but it is correct with me lol. She loves anything and everything. I am keeoing the chicks at my ex's house that way I can keep them. I think getting rid ofthe chickens msfe me more depressed then our rrelationship ending hahahaha. Is that bad?

Hope there are no bodies down there.....that was what popped into my head when I read this lol (morbid or what??)

Brian, I am SOOOOOO glad you have worked out a way to keep your chickies. And I totally understand that losing chicks are worse than losing a cheater ex. I feel bad because I keep passing up on family get togethers because I "don't want to leave my chickens home alone". I feel like such a recluse lol

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this sign!!

First thing that came to mind was 1) covering a body (guess everybody else thought that too, the more I read) OR 2) maybe that's where they hid their money and forgot it was there when they moved. LOL!!

I know the feeling... a few months ago the step daughters threw such a bad fit over my chickens that their over indulging father told me they had to go. These are full grown, married with children prima donnas, who live elsewhere. They think appearance and the whine in their voice rule the world (they definitely rule their father...sad!!) I had a breakdown of sorts. I had found, what I thought was a good home, only to find those people competed in cock fighting on the reservation. I had a hard time getting them back. There was a couple days that I still don't remember. Horribly traumatic!!! If my prior husband hadn't lost my home on acreage (which I had purchased BEFORE even meeting him) I would be outta here in a heartbeat!!!

I'm wishing you the very best, and am so very glad you found a way to keep some of your babies!!! My critters are the only thing that keep me going.

Brian, it's probably a sign that you were more upset over the chickens. Here's to finding a much better, brand new lover (great, now I have an ear worm).

I've also found some crazy stuff in my yard. My favorite is a meat tenderizer. I *think* all the dead bodies have been found. True story- the week before we an offer in for our house, they DID find a body in my yard.
