Utah!

Btw, I got so caught up in responding to everyone, I forgot to mention...speaking of roos...

My last lav am to hatch is definitely a boy. He's still young so can't tell much on type for him, but so far he seems good there. Hasn't crowed yet, but given my neighbors, I don't want to wait until he does. He is showing signs of the la ender feather issues, so he would be good to breed with a black am to get splits (improve feather quality and pass on a very pretty lavender gene). I have a pretty girl that I am keeping (I feel that I should have something to show for this year's chicken disaster), if I weren't risking my whole flock I might put them together to see if the feather quality can go her way rather than his. Anyone interested in a lavender am flock starter boy?

I forgot to mention stuff.

Birdguy, CONGRATS on the baby. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!

Sundance, I'm really upset you're in the hospital again. If you're reading this, and want me to come visit you, I'd be more than happy to. I'll even sneak a chick or two into the hospital because that would be freaking hilarious to say I snuck a chick into the hospital.

Lilwanis, which lavender feather issue are you referring to?

My chicken coops are totally safe from birds of prey. They are completely and totally enclosed. I think if something was to dig, there's vulnerabilities in spots, especially in the leper colony (aka baby nursery) because that's a tractor and can be moved. My primary pen has chicken wire buried a couple feet deep, but one whole line is on the property line, and it's just chain link to the ground, so digging under that wouldn't be toooooo difficult. And, as I've learned the hard way, the run is DEFINITELY not cow proof. If a cow wants in, it'll get in.

Hey Lil--did you get the pour on kind, the paste or the water soluble ivermectin? I bought some pour on kind but have never tried it, I was kind of hating the idea of throwing eggs out. How did it go? If it worked well I might give it a go. They said 1 ml does 22 pounds, so 1 ml per four 5.5 lbs of chicken...I think I have a 250 ml bottle  It should last a while if I decide to give it a go. I am kind of scared to use it, not sure why lol just a new thing so want to find out what happened with somebody else first! Still have this generic frontline sitting here, have not tried it either..poor girls are out there itching and I am sitting here scratching my head trying to decide.

Sphinx I had forgotten about your cow with the heart! How is it going?

Oh, OK, Lilwanis. I guess that does ring a bell. I think I have heard of that problem in the lavender project.

I hate the idea of meds where you have to throw out the eggs for so long. That's why I've been hesitating treating my chickens' worms case chemically. I've been watching their droppings, and everything coming out is normal. I haven't seen the original offender poop (been a little busy to watch that obsessively, you know?), so I don't know what's going on with her. I fed them another pound of cayenne on Monday.

Lisa, cows are growing pretty well. We feel like the smaller one really isn't ready for freezer camp in 6 weeks, so we got 90ish bales of hay and are going to feed them through most of the winter. I'm disappointed because it's been stressful, but on the other hand, they've been very well behaved and stress free for a couple months now. I'll take a new picture of them today.

I would love to see how she looks all grown up!

I got 7 babies. Two white Silkies..one has pink feet..hmmmm? The white ones have nice thick neck feathering already. Only one SG, but what a bowtie! It's black. One Black Silkie I'm already calling Bubba. Three Blues, or they could be splash, not sure yet. The black Silkie and the blues have really vaulted heads.

Tiny little SG. Nice bow tie.

SG again

Bubba Nice big ol beard

All of the blues have a large vaulted head, and nice beards

Can't tell yet if any are frizzled or not.
