Utah!

Brian, you know I am in love with that BLW too! And Jelly Bean. She's the best.

Ok, so, I have already gone to the..what gender is this thread..but will ask here if anyone is thinking the same as me. I am thinking cockerel..then I see someone else post what sex are these RIW's? Definitely both are roos..big ol comb and wattles. That's what throwing me here. Not much of a comb or wattles, but, does have that roo look to the tail. Big long legs too. Could just be the different breeding. Not sure..what do you think? Either way, this big bird needs to go if anyone is interested. Pure Rhode Island White. Was hatched on May 12th. Almost 5 months..no crowing yet..obviously, or I wouldn't be asking.. he he...

That is a straight comb.

Cynthia, I think that is a pullet. I've had a few girls that got the curly tail and big feet when they were younger. One of them was my blue Wyandotte, remember? I thought for sure she was a roo. That curly tail thing seems to grow startlingly fast for a short time, and then the tail stops and the rest of the chicken grows into it. Unless you're finding pointy triangles on the saddle area, I wouldn't worry

My little Serama crowed today. He is officially a Rooster. What a tiny crow! Hope it stays that way. I heard this funny little sound from my bedroom window early this morning..not too early, around 7:30. I popped my head up thinking, is that what I think it was..then he did it again. When I was out later I was hoping he would crow again, he did. I turned around to watch. He puffed up, stretched out, and out came this little squeaky squack. One of his little ladies was standing right in front of him when he did it..she pecked him! As though to say, hush up! What is that ugly sound anyway? He ran! I started laughing out loud, the neighbors probably wondered what in the world. I was making more noise than him for sure. It was just too funny to watch. Sure hope he can handle his ladies. I have three Serama eggs that are doing pretty good. Crossing fingers they hatch. These little birds are just too cute. My DH even gets a kick out of them. Here is picture of my chicks I just hatched. Not a fancy photo. A lot of SLW's and one GLW..the lavender/or splash is a cochin. He's going to Shannelle. I have three Sex links here that are girls. Going to keep two to watch, one is up for sale if anyone wants a good egg layer come this spring. Only 3 dollars for them right now at this age. Keeping one of the SLW's. I have another batch that I want to keep a couple from to watch.
Do u think they r pullets some of them or do u not know yet

I am home and I can't tell you how much fun I had. I'll post some pictures soon. We came home a few days early because the weather was turning bad and Ed was worried that I mightt get a chill so he brought me home. We stayed at some really nice campground made some new friend and say some amazing animals. I had a wild donkey and her foal try to climb in my car to eat the chips I had on the dashboard. I took sp,e [ictures. Ed was freaking out and I was just laughing. Didn't feel threatened at all, Pics to come soon. A really sad thing happened when we got home. We had just pulled in and one of Eds little dogs ran out in front of a car and was killed. Really sad but at least she died instantly

Cynthia, your babies are adorable as usual! So hard not to make a monthly trip to your place!

Ok guys, I finally went out to get a pic--that black japanese banty roo is back for sale (free), I have been holding him to go to a lady down south and it is not working out, he is getting way too old to keep holding onto! I have a few pics of him next to the silkies so you can see how tiny. If anyone is interested please please let me know. He is sooooo sweet. Really a very good boy! No crow yet. 14 weeks old. He usually has that tail up high, but not when i was taking pics, he is very modest haha :D

Ok now lastly a question, this one looked like a cochin from birth, a bantam...and the coloring I think someone said was Birchen, can you tell the gender yet? (By coloring)? As far as comb and wattles go--definitely pink. But the same age as the japanese, and not nearly as much going on...

Sundancen, I am so sorry about your husband's dog. Which one was it? I bet he was absolutely devasted. I'm glad it didn't suffer. Glad the trip was otherwise wonderful.

Cynthia, I'm inclined to say pullet on that chicken, even though the legs are HUGE.

Brian, he has a very definite, loud crow, so if you're not supposed to have roosters, you'd better not take him.

Tellorton, I love watching the mamas with their babies. Isn't it cute?

Red, glad your egg production is finally up!

I got FIVE today. I was getting a dozen a day a month ago. -sigh-

wow! Such a fun trip, so glad you got to do that! But sad about your dog too :( Cannot wait to see the pictures!

Sundance, so sorry about your dog! I am glad that you guys made it back safely after having so much fun.

Lisa and Tellorton, love the pictures.

We did some yard cleanup today. I couldn't help myself. Had to grab the camera. We let the chickens out to supervise and go through the stuff we were ripping up.

Check out the pile of branches and vines that we've accumulated in the last week!

Ike, one of my little Icelandic cockerels. He wasn't sure what my camera was.

Turkey mama showing her babies the joys of crab apples.

Birdman, my sunflower from you......kind of exploded..........
