Also, I have a brinsea mini advanced (holds 7 eggs), and I already have 7 eggs in there that I set yesterday. Could I open it up and stick one more in there? Has anyone tried this? Is there room? Will this mess up the other ones? I know it will be a bit behind, but I think it is worth a try...

Ace, I have done that. When I felt like one was kind of iffy, I stuck 8 in there, and then carefully watched to make sure they actually were being turned. After a week or so, if any weren't good, I tossed them.

Not for a staple ~ but great for them in the winter when they aren't out and about free ranging. Corn is also great at helping put weight on the chicken during the winter. They need that extra fat for this cold!

If, you are close to Leland Mills, you can get a 50 lb. bag for 10 dollars.

Anyone have a place for some RIR babies? I have 4 ready to go. Going to have some Rhodebars soon..I hope. In the hatch a long..will also have a nice variety of OE's, EE's, and not sure what the dark ones are, and not sure what the white ones are..hoping they are leghorns. I love me some good egg layers. Waiting on an OE to get started..any min. now! Bet she waits until she's nine months old. She's old enough now at 6 months. :/

Glad your hatch is going so well, Cynthia! I have to admit RIR just hold zero interest for me. I have one, and I like her, but as a breed? Meh. I can't remember how old my OE projects were when they started laying. Seems like they've been laying forever though.

Canebeds, sorry, Sumatra is not a breed I've experimented at all with. Never owned a single one. They're quite pretty though, aren't they?

Oh, Madchicken. It's impossible to spoil a baby that young! If he was exposed to all of his aunties here, it would be even worse with the spoiling.
