Utah!

since i did my new coop i have not had any mice. i made sure there is not a place they can hide at all and that has helped. plus my girls have been known to hunt mice. and our cat used to be a street cat so is very good at hunting. so with all of that it means i am not dealing with any mice. i hate mice. gary momo is so cute. she has gotta be one of the best broodys out there. any idea how many she has hatched out?

I love the Momo pancake

Nora is trying to do the same impression.

I checked two of the four eggs she's on last night. Both had gorgeous, healthy veins in them. Yay!

Silly, I think you will have something hatch. Being patient can be hard! Hang in there.

Red...were did you get Nora from? She looks a lot like my Snowy!

Red and Madchicken, I love the little momma's. Hope they get a good hatch, they are so cute sitting on their eggs. As of right now, still no action. I keep saying, be patient, be patient. Going on day 21 in the morning. So all fingers crossed here.

Did some reading on the humidity with my incubator, and a lot of people have this issues, that the water tubs in the bottom are just not large enough surface area. A lot of people get little plastic tray things from the dollar store and put them under the wire for hatch to have more surface area for water for humidity. I will for sure have to try that out.

So I'm going to get some Icelandic eggs from Red. I don't have one of those outside yet, I need one of those. And I really want a true blue egger. So does anyone have any true blue eggers either in Bantam or Standard Size, doesn't really matter to me for hatching eggs. I just need some color in my eggs.

Hopefully my next time around I have way more that hatching.

Nora is from a hatch Cynthia did about a year and a half ago. She's an EE/Leghorn cross. She lays pretty blue eggs and is so sweet, though sometimes she's a blonde, lol. She's a smaller bird, about Leghorn-sized, so I only gave her four eggs. If it gets much more than that, she can't cover them all very efficiently. The first time she went broody, she'd hoarded at least ten eggs under her! Silly girl.

Silly, as much as I love the Icelandic breed, I feel it's only fair to warn you - they are terrific escape artists. Just a heads up. That being said, I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

Oh, and I love Spike's feathers!

Red, as long as they don't fly over a 6 foot wooden fence, I think we will be okay. Because both neighbors have outside only dogs. Now my little Japanese Bantam is always over the fence, but she always comes back. Little turd. And its not like they are crowded by any means, they have a huge run area, and they are out all the way down the side yard all summer long, and even in the main back yard 3-4 times a week for a few hours. But nope, she likes to go over the fence.

Well all of mine fly over our side fence which is 6 feet too when I locked them up in the back, just as long as they don't go north, they really should be fine. The JB goes on outings all the time. The one neighbor loves her. lol But I don't have fully enclosed runs, I have way too much space for them, with a huge tree that it would be next impossible to enclose with the top. We thought about maybe this summer putting up poultry netting in the back area so the JB doesn't fly over to the neighbors. I just worry about their dog. But she is a feisty little thing, and she keeps her own.

But if you guys think they are not very well for a back yard chicken for that reason, I would pass on having one, they are just so cool looking. I would hate for it to get eaten by the neighbors dog by being a little stink.
