Utah!

I have always bought chicks from IFA with no problems. I try to avoid Cal Ranch due to their arrogant and uneducated answers to any questions. But thats just my opinion.

They are pretty arrogant and uneducated aren't they? I once had an employee there try to convince me that I was wrong about needing pine shavings over cedar, and that cedar was perfectly safe and non-toxic. Another time I had an employee basically tell me I was stupid for wanting organic feed. As if It's any of her business how I want to raise my chickens. I guess I don't look like a typical "farmer" so I couldn't possibly have any clue about anything.

SunnyBrooke isn't a hatchery... At least I don't think so. She raises a couple varieties but orders the rest from hatcheries. I've gotten birds from her with no problem.

Never gotten birds from Cal Ranch, IFA is decent I guess... XD I always prefer breeders personally, but you might try Meyers, they do small orders and I approve of them overall.

Well that's good to hear someone having a good experience with SunnyBrooke. Maybe I will check them out. I'm all for a local breeder too, so long as I can find someone with Buffs :) Thanks for your input!

I've forgotten her name at the moment, but the owner of SunnyBrooke is in one way or another a friend of mine. I ordered from Ideal with her many years ago. I believes she breeds Lavender Orpingtons, but I'm not sure, she has a website you could check out.

Glad to help! I wish I could suggest some breeders from the UFPA but I don't know of any at the moment, otherwise I'd have some show quality birds already!

It's a nice day today, such a shame the flock has to stay inside because my aussie is in heat so the neighbor dogs keep hanging around. I sat in front of the door for a while and tossed them some goodies to scratch around for. I took the pictures with my ipad, the one of the chickens was taken through the roof window of the coop/greenhouse because the silly birds kept trying to get out the open door. The ducks were in the corner mucking up the water.

Ah, well that's unfortunate. It happens though. lD

I am 99% sure that Christy at SunnyBrooke is out of business. I know her house is for sale, and I seem to remember seeing all of her stock for sale on KSL last fall.

Yes, she sent out an email last fall saying that her husbands health was forcing them to sell their acreage and downsize houses and such. I never got anything from her but I was on her mailing list just in case.
