Utah!

I've been a lurker for about 15 weeks and finally made a decision to escalate my chicken knowledge base by asking a few questions here and there. We purchased our first round of chicks "officially" June 9th 2011 as that was the date of our city council hearing for farm animals in Kaysville. Although we've only had them 3 months I am totally invested in the idea of having them (chickens) for the remainder of my days. I am a true chicken convert. lol . We have Welsummer, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Easter Egger, Red Sexlink, brown leghorn. We only have one hen laying so we are excited for the day we find a different egg in the nesting boxes. We got involved very shortly after they changed the ordinances allowing chickens on smaller lots. YAY!

$3 a dozen. I've had to turn away people and even trim my sell to list. They save me cartons. Sometimes I give them a free dozen, but sometimes they'll overpay me. They are just happy to get fresh egg and I'm happy to have a little $$ to offset feed.

The ordinance allows one "farm animal"(chickens, rabbit, other fowl) per 1,600 sq ft of your lot size with a minimum lot size of 8,000 sq ft. How many am I allowed???? Don't ask and I wont tell.

ahh, I think we all know that one. Especially since I like to incubate. Not sure if baby chicks count, but I do sell them pretty quick after getting my pick first. I just had one little chick make it out of 4. I kept some eggs from a couple of hens that had been with a roo. Only one made it. Now I need to find a buddy for it...so, having some SLW eggs shipped Mon.
