I went to Cal Ranch today. I won a bag of food from them for best hen at chicken stock, I also talked to the manager and asked if they would consider sponsoring a chicken stock in their store next year, The manager was very receptive to the idea. He is going to call the cal ranch in Idaho falls to get an idea of what they were thinking. It would be really neat to have two chicken stocks. We would just need to make sure they are on different days

Cynthia, I did not even notice that stinker with her eyeball in there. LOL, my BR hen, just like my last one, always curious and striking a pose when the camera comes out.

Sphinx, he is really doing good. He never really crows. This morning I did hear him a few times, at 6 am or so, 3 crows then not a peep until noon when the kids went outside and he let loose a few more. So far so good! Never heard him once yesterday. The collar tones it down slightly, but he really does not crow so much. I might just take it off if this is the way he is. I feel kinda bad for him he looks silly. I have only seen him mate hens twice, so not sure how that is working...nothing like Vinnie, he was always busy. Always. Lol.

Just fyi to everyone, looking for silkies. I wouldnt purchase any chickens from that guy selling silkies in Provo on ksl. Had a terrible experience with this person. He's extremely rude to people if you apparently ask too many questions about a chick. Dont ask for pics, gender pics, or even to meet anywhee or he'll blow up. I was just asking basic questions I would ask anyone about a chick I might be interested in and he got annoyed very quickly and then blew up at me, and became incredibly mean and unprofessional and repeatedly attacking me. I dont think a person has any business breeding when they are that unprofessional and rude towards people, and ones they dont even know. I definitely would advise to look elsewhere. Just thought i'd say something, because it was very upsetting the way he treated me just over asking questions about one of his chicks.

WAHOOO!!!!! This would be so awesome!! You could maybe look into doing at a fair ground and get IFA involved too. Just an idea

if that was the same person I got my silkie from, I was less than impressed with his setup (I doubt the area he was at in Provo would REALLY let him have 30 + chickens.... and that's not counting the silkies...)

just checked my texts, and yeah, it's the same person.

okay, so, not only that, but where they had the brood box was up on top of the coop (sectioned off from the bottom) and you couldn't reach in there, they had to use a net to get them! it not only freaked them out big time, but also broke 2 blood feathers on one foot. Plus, his silkies don't like people at all... I'm still having a tough time getting my silkie that I got from him to be ok with being held....

I'm not a mean person by any means.... but I have his address, if someone wanted to call A-control on him.....

OH, also.... with doing the linoleum on the floor of the coop, just make sure you have at least 3 inches of shavings (or sand?) in there, they won't slide around anymore!

edit (again): btw, last week, that guy dropped his silkie price on those down to $5..... I bet you could tell him that's what you'll pay if you were interested in getting them....

This is the silkie I got from that guy in Provo. She's cute

(at least I hope it's a she lol). The ones he's selling would have been from her same hatching. Also, that guy wasn't rude to me, but we just conversed through text.... and I actually didn't ask much, so maybe that's why lol

She's a cutie pie! I only talked to him through text also and immediately I noticed him getting annoyed with the first question. He sent a pic as I asked but once I started asking additional questions he blew up on me saying horrible things and calling me difficult! And said, 'all this over a ten dollar chicken' And said he'll sell it to someone less demanding. This came completely out of nowhere! I was in shock by his reaction and when I went to defend myself it just got much worse and he attacked me repeatedly saying the meanest things I couldn't believe how he was talking to me. I literally only asked maybe three questions when he lashed out at me :/

I have put on cat show for years. Fairgrounds cost a bunch. I f cal Ranch does it they will furnish location which is huge, If some one wants to take point person that would be great as I worry about my health

Sorry that you were treated so rudely that's not cool. I was tempted to take the last few that he had, just to give them a better home.... but I know how my hubs would feel about that lol plus, if I was going to do that, I'd only give him $5 a piece for them.
