Ok, need some advice pls? (I've read a bunch of posts here on byc but nothing that helped).
A lady had a 4 wk silkie chick that went blind and didn't want to cull it (she'd actually had been crying for days but had 3 sm kiddos that keep her too busy for it). Since my feedstore got in backordered chicks (that I had cancelled and they sent the wrong ones anyway ugh), I got 3 babies and the blind one. Prior owner was super nice and had been using a baby bottle to give her water (she used nipple buckets for water for the rest, this chick couldn't find the water even tho she had before). She said the chick was fine but a wk ago closed its eyes for a day or so and when opened they now have a grey pupil and she acts blind.
I put them all in a small brooder box and an open feed dish (not the anti-scratch w/holes) & waterer.
Oh... and it's not a silkie but a cochin (even feedstore told her it was a silkie!). Red patridge or laced, hard to know - all my prior cochins were solid colors. When I can figure out how to get the pics off my phone and on here, I'll post.
Any experience on blindness? I've googled and they say chicks this young don't get Mercks, could be viral, could be from ammonia (the lady was super clean tho), and genetics. I put all chicks on antibotics to be safe. She's healthy otherwise, eating/drinking/pooping/preening and comes to the sound of my voice. Likes to be held.
Any hope she'll regain sight? I read one case of viral where t vision returned but pupils were black not grey. She does keep her eyes shut a lot, no drainage, sneezing. etc. No head bobbing or apparent neuro probs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! (p.s. if I don't respond right away I'm working long hours but will jump on after midnight).

What is going on with my ladies saddle feathers? Or maybe ladies don't have saddle feathers. Anyway, in that area. It's only my brown hens, 2 EEs and 1 Welsummer. Can you see them? You can see the down, but they don't have feathers covering the down back there. Mites? Feather picking? It's only affecting the brown ones so it's weird.![]()

I've seen this before in a friends flock, just one bird though. Never did figure it out. Bird was fine, not sure if she got the feathers back or not. I haven't been over there in a while.I see you've got a roo in with them...maybe he prefers brunettes?![]()
