Hi,
I am in SLC. Avenues. I am also legal! Paid the fees and coop passed inspection. I have two Easter Eggers, one Australop, one Golden Laced Wyandoote, one Silver Laced Wyandoote and a Buff Orpington. Sad to say one of the Easter Eggers has a crossed beak. I took her in to the vet who shaved her beak a little but I am not hopeful. I give her a deep bowl to feed but she is just 6 weeks and the beak is so crossed. Has anyone else had this situation?

Gary that would be awesome, not sure how many to give her, its my little Cochin mix that kind of looks like a Mille. I just hope she doesn't quit if I give her eggs, I would feel bad.

this is the cutest thing to witness. I think broody are the best way to go if you want to incubate your own eggs. Much better hatch rate in my opinion.

Welcome Liv4birds. I heave a cross beak also. Mine isn't that bad at 4 weeks but still noticeable with the deformed skull. From what i have read they do just fine if you keep them as a pet or find someone that doesn't care, like a farmer or rancher.I would like to see some pictures of the little one for comparison if you have some.

I've heard so many people say that their birds with crossed beaks do well. Just watch and see if she keeps eating and drinking. Bet she does fine.

Brain you've got that right. Mamas always do best. :) Glad you are enjoying her and the babies. :) It's more fun when you had to wait for them!

yea its alot more fun to watch the mom raise the babies and they seem way healthier as well.

Has anyone had any experience with pigeons and chickens together? If so what is/was it like? I couldn't pass up the fantail pigeons. I have been wanting to do chukkars and raise them with chicks like Diana has done but I can not find any eggs for the life of me. How are your chukkars doing diana? I love those little guys when I visit you

I have had a couple roos, I haven't dared trim. One eventually passed (but he wasn't skinny or sick so who knows the reason); other learned to compensate (he's a big boy game bird now and manages pellet feed just fine). I also have a hen that lost both beaks (think she stuck them in a fence knothole). After some time healing in the house she's rejoined. They really didn't grow back, I named her Hot Lips. She manages and is healthy but does love to be handfed.

If it doesn't look like she's getting enough to eat/drink, I'd bring her in and give him a warm mash and graduating to back to chick feed. You might want to bring a friend along so when she rejoins she's not the lone bird out. Good luck!
