Utah!

I may be interested in your blue.... problem is, I'd have to get 2, because they need a buddy and I can't decide between a black or partridge.... and I may be out of town until the 9th of June, so I'd have to wait until then if you'd be willing to hold them for me.....
Are you still wanting to get the blue, and a black, or partridge? Let me know, cause I already got a call from someone wanting to come look at all of them. I dont have a problem holding them a few days if you really want them. But just let me know so I know if I should show them or not. :)

Saw this quote and it made me laugh so I thought I would share it with you all:

"Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she has laid an asteroid." - Mark Twain

Hi,
I am in SLC. Avenues. I am also legal! Paid the fees and coop passed inspection. I have two Easter Eggers, one Australop, one Golden Laced Wyandoote, one Silver Laced Wyandoote and a Buff Orpington. Sad to say one of the Easter Eggers has a crossed beak. I took her in to the vet who shaved her beak a little but I am not hopeful. I give her a deep bowl to feed but she is just 6 weeks and the beak is so crossed. Has anyone else had this situation?
Here is a link that may help:

I will have to pass at this time. If you have someone interested, best let them have em! :) thank you for checking with me first!

Wow just got on to 212 new posts. You guys have been chattin. I've been busy, I did it! I finally got my Aussie puppy after wanting one for 8 years. And he is just perfect in every way. But no name... I've had him for 4 days now, and can't name the little guy.

But I was getting on to see if anyone had some fertile eggs. My little adorable cochin mix bantam is dead serious on sitting on eggs. She has been in the box for 4 days straight, even after I take them away and bring her back out, and she's even been sleeping in there. So darn it! I'm nervous to have her hatch eggs, probably because I don't know if she will sit the whole time, and then I will be leaving in July for 6 days. So I worry about her having little ones when I'm gone. Oh well. I guess they are chickens and thats what they do right? Just a few mixed ones will even be fine. I don't really want to spend a lot of money on them in case she gives up. Because I'm not in a position at the moment to incubate them if she quits. She will need to be momma!

So shoot me up if you have a few to spare. Or ways to get her out of the dang box.

I'll have a few tomorrow, I already put todays in the incubator

welcome. crossed beaks are always a problem, You just need to watch it and make sure it is eating it may get worse as it gets older. good luck. Let me know if you need more chicks as I always have some

yea its alot more fun to watch the mom raise the babies and they seem way healthier as well.

Has anyone had any experience with pigeons and chickens together? If so what is/was it like? I couldn't pass up the fantail pigeons. I have been wanting to do chukkars and raise them with chicks like Diana has done but I can not find any eggs for the life of me. How are your chukkars doing diana? I love those little guys when I visit you

I just set 15 eggs in an incubator. I saw some chucker chicks om KSL

Hi everyone! I am new here. Hoping not to interrupt! I live in Salt Lake County and am really interested in getting some chickens. I've been obsessively researching breeds and coops and all that stuff. For some reason I NEED to have a Lavender Orpington. Do any of you have any experience working with Chase Hatchery in Taylorsville? http://www.chasehatchery.com/

I know that Sunnybrooke Farm in Logan and Desert Spring Farm in Duchesne have good reputations, but that is so far to go. Chase said they will have the breeds I'm looking for in a week or two so I'm wondering if its worth a shot. Thanks!

Also, I can only keep about four hens. In addition to the Lavender Orpington I also really want an Easter Egger. Then for the last two I was thinking any two of the following Australorp, Barred Plymouth, New Hampshire Red. Any input would be appreciated. To account for sexing error and/or sick chicks would it be wise to start off with 6 or 7 chicks? Chase says they will take back any unwanted chickens. TIA!
