Here's a closer up picture of the bugs. I tried to smother some wood ash mixed with sand on her but it was still damp and made more of a mess then anything. I was thinking of taking her a bath and starting over. I havent gone to the store yet cause ive been feeling sick, but ill run to the IFA and see what I can get for the bugs. I really hope this is the cause and can be cleared up. Now im nervous about if its all over the other birds and their coop/bedding. Their coop is brand new, so I dont know why she'd be having such a bug problemShe's still not walking, and im giving her water through a seringe still.
Quote: im not sure were you are located but i have a 50lb bag of Diatomaceous earth. It works really good but it takes 3 treatments over 15 days. It works really good on silkies due to their feather structure. You are more then welcome to come get some from me. Mabe i could even talk you into a Silkie chick![]()
Ruralpearls
Mmmmmm, thanks. Would have been fun to see you, I've thought of driving out your way more than a few times, we are sort of rural too. We like that a great deal. I have to wonder how many shows round the state are judged in secret, as is ours. The public and or exhibitors are not allowed in the barn during the judging. I see those disinterested folks whom are charged with taking care of and protecting our livestock, chowing down on a Millbuger and nursing a 64 ounce cola, and they are in their element, please don't bother us, well to do anything. Bumzzz is a kind word for them. The chicken guy pulled out his program and showed me his picture in it. I guess I am impressed, he said he is in charge of all Cache County poultry, I said really? To whom do I take my complaint. I guess as a person, I am not impressed with the pecking order of persons in the county. And if he is the head bird we are in deep chicken poo.
If you are so put out in doing your 'thing' at the fair, it might be time to turn it over to someone else, just saying.
Cynthia,
Thanks, I suppose I have lived and learned. It would look like my RC is smarter than the building 'bird master'. An undependable position, which is how and why I pulled my bird, prior to the 8:00 pm Saturday check out time. Knowing what I have learned, who would put their best birds at the hands of such fools. Buffoon comes to mind, along with a big fat belly with suspenders to keep the britches in place. Thank the lord for suspenders…
I would be interested to hear Lisa's thoughts on her experience, I can only hope her entries fared better than mine. Those stupid 14 year old barn monkeys that respond to the guy(s) with the photos in the program, who let the bunny die, that is so sad. I know they will tell him or her, gosh~ we don't know what happened. Right.
Thanks to all, and those whom have kindly responded, I suppose all is not lost, tomorrow will be better, at least for me & RC.
Best to all and your birds,
RJ
Think twice be for taking things to the fair…
