Utah!

5 wk olds for sale/free:
I have a batch of Olive Eggers, I am pretty sure I have the boys and girls figured out. The boys are Free....there is a Frizzled blue olive egger, 2 smooth feathered blue olive eggers, 1 black/red/white (gorgeous) male that is from a Black Tail Buff Marans mom and a Blue Copper Marans Dad.

There is one black Olive Egger left that I am pretty sure is Female. $8 for anyone on here. These babies are really fat and fluffy, they are growing up and mostly feathered in, I think they would be fine outside with a little transition period, they have been in my garage off of heat. They are from my biggest/best blue egg layers (mostly SBELS) so they should be good layers.

two day old Sizzles/Silkies--50 percent chance of frizzling. Pm me if you are interested :D
(Iluv- there are four blacks, a couple look very nice and have good toes. Not sure if toes is something you worry about or not. I will message you with pics a little later this afternoon when things slow down here.)

My small coop I vacuum out, hit with clorox in water, then when dried my husband used the shop vac backwards and shot the inside well. I also layered shavings and DE. Problem was solved. Coop has good ventilation and no one had any problems. That DE sticks to dry walls for some time!

My big coop, which is a 12x20 horse stall converted is too big. So I have a big rubber horse tub (a kiddie pool would work) and I put DE and ash in there. I'll also sprinkle it in the favorite dust bathing spots in the run. I'll hit the corners with DE and any place the mice might go in. This year I also tried puttling garlic gloves in the waterer. Smelled like garlic but they didn't mind, the eggs were fine, and so far all the birds are nice and healthy. I so do not have the time to bathe the whole gang and I can't get enough heated water to the barn so I haven't bathed them. At least at my house, the DE works really well.

I'm guessing with cold weather I'll need to re-do.

I've noticed the birds that fly to the rafters never have issues. It's the silky roo and once a game hen with a funky wing that hang out low and seem to get them. I lost the game hen (husband accident) and couldn't believe how covered she was. I got paranoid and checked the rest and they had very minor amounts, if any. My takeaway was to treat the floor really well.

Does anyone up north have a live animal trap that they would let me borrow for a few days? I have a predator problem and thinking it is a fox or cat. I would rather move it somewhere else than kill it. I plan on talking to animal control tomorrow to see what my options are.

I have a large racoon trap you are welcome to borrow. I'm in Summit Cnty.

What evidence is the predator leaving behind? Foxes will just take the bird and run. Hawks usually leave a feather pile, skunks like the eggs first (but will get a bird). Mink or Ermine (sp?) will just suck the blood out and leave the bird. Racoons will pull body parts though the cage and tend to eat the head first if they can get to the bird. House or Bobcat, no experience there thank heavens. Big cats won't fit in the cage...

Box Elder fair meet up. What about meeting at the Chicken barn noon on Saturday. We could plan on having lunch together and get to know each other. I'll be there with my husband and our little dogs in our dog stroller. Can't wait to meet everyone My cell is 801 597 7854

It had dug a small hole under the fence and there were few feathers from few different birds from the chase and my wife's silkie roo was pulled through the hole, his one leg got stuck and was left in the fence and the rest of the bird was gone. If the leg wouldn't have gotten stuck there would have been nothing left behind.
So to me it sounds like a fox. I read that in August the young leave their mothers and that attacks go up around them when they start hunting on their own.
