Thank you for the nice compliment on my Dallas. He is still drowsy from his surgery this morning, but at least he wants to eat.
Your little bantam is darling! No, the little Japanese bantam I was telling you about is black, and much smaller, if you can believe that! She is just tiny. The coloring on your girl is gorgeous! I'll bet she is the boss of the hay stack! lol..I know my Baily would be. It's funny to see the others turn and go the other way when she faces them. She is my mottled black cochin..bantam...hmm..I think I have a picture or two of her. Hope I haven't already shared one of her on this thread, but I don't think I have.
When my girls are out free ranging, they come up to our back door..our leghorn being the first to peck on the door for treats!
Where is that camera?! Boy, your phone camera works much better than our little mcjobby.

Ok, my pictures disappeared, who knows what this old lady did! Trying again.
Will get pics of Baily..she hasn't gone broody on me yet. Knocking on wood. My little fluff ball Baily is sweet to us..

Scott gets a kick out of her, and the grand kids..

My Partridge Rock.. hope this one works.. she is getting big, no egg yet.. quite red in her coloring..

Cynthia---love the pics. Your mottled is ADORABLE, and I see why you love her so much! She reminds me of a little lap dog you just want to pet. My partridge cochin bantam is exactly as your partridge rock, same feathers...just has feathered feet and small. She is the one that got attacked by my mean EE tho and she has chunks missing out of her at the moment

Her head and neck are nearly bald and her back has a hole where feathers are finally starting to pop back up and grow. I love your flock, you have a super cute mix of fun and pretty birds, along with the cute dog, I just love your taste in pets

Your friend's chicken might be still the same breed as mine, they come in buff with black tail, white with black tail, and black. They are small, mine is only 18 oz. Her tail is gigantic though haha! She carries it so far forward sometimes it is right over her head. You will notice my birds look roughed up, that mean EE took feathers off of them all, my BO and chabo both are growing back their head and neck feathers. I really am soo sooo glad I got rid of her. It was stressing us all out, and it has been 100 percent peaceful out there with her gone.

Thanks for sharing your pictures, it is great to see what you have at home

Hope your dog feels ok!

Aww, a teeny little Partridge sounds fun...
Glad you got rid of that meanie too. And, glad the feathers are coming back. It takes a while, but they usually do. Not sure about your little Partridge girl though. You will have to post pictures of her when she is all better.

Try day 5.

Really, just one more day, and you should see veins for sure if they are viable. I still have 13 out of 13 that are due to go into lock down on Wed. Shipped eggs!

Look how bad she looks now! She looked identical to yours, fully feathered, with the pretty tail and her head feathers were lighter like yours. Now she looks like a turkey

No neck feathers. I think we saved her life, she stayed in the house for three weeks in a dog kennel and her wounds healed. But yes it will take a very long time for her to look normal again. Still no egg. She was born in April!

Oh my goodness Lisa! That poor thing may never get all of her feathers back, and no wonder she isn't laying yet! Now that she has piece of mind, maybe she will lay. You spent some time taking care of that sweet heart. I hope she continues to do better. She'll lay for ya, she knows, she owes ya.

I hope so! We love her because she is the underdog, ya know? She was definitely a mess. This was why I was so hesitant to give the EE a time out and try again, it felt too desperate to take a chance that it might happen again

And I did not want another one to end up looking like this also, the EE started picking on my BO the day we gave her away. This little one was so beautiful, the roundest and fluffiest really of all of them, so everytime I look at her I feel so bad, yet so happy she is a little survivor! If I find my camera, there are before pics on it, will have to show ya

Thanks for the good vibes you send to her

oh no!!!! I went to turn my eggs this evening, and discovered the heating element had gone out for the big incubator for the "spares". There were 6 eggs in there, and the temp read 75. I turned on my oven, brought it up to 100, and stuck them in there. Unfortunately, I dropped one. It has a crack, so I sealed it with wax.

DH did some fancy wiring and has put a light bulb in there. I'm hoping that will hold them til tomorrow, when we can possibly rig up something. I wish I knew someone close by who had an incubator I could borrow.
