My Thanksgiving babies are 8 weeks old today


I'm breeding these two, just as soon as they start laying  

I am thinking of changing my display name to something at applies paints. Maybe Iluvmypaints, or something else more creative. Or leave it be? ..What you think?

Are the male and female unrelated? If they are not, please add me to your waiting list I would love a nice paint hen to add to my shizzle project !

Nope noone is related except my youngest babies, and there is a roo in the bunch who looks really nice that I wanna use, so I dont know what to do there yet because I want to use its siblings as well. They are probably all half siblings though. I have been told that breeding siblings isent the end of the word, and that they dont really show problems. But I am still pondering what to do there, without selling any of my babies. I want to use them all lol. The one that looks like a roo in the adult picture, is not a proven roo yet. It looks pretty roo-ish doesent it? It's about 7 mths old and still no crowing, and the comb is still small. So I am thinking it may be a girl. But until they are laying, ill be hatching eggs this spring from the same source I hatched my babies so there were still be some available, ill be selling I will let ya know when I start incubating more. Should be around valentines when I will start more

This are the best looking silkies I've seen! How well are they in the cold? And how good is there laying rate?

You talking about my paints? They are pretty huh. They are just like any silkie, laying one a day but sometimes every other day. These ones arent laying just yet. Should start anytime though. They are awesome in the cold. It's been an easier winter so far but silkies can handle very cold weather. I havent provided any extra heat. As long as you have a few so they can huddle together for warmth, they seem to be just fine.

My rooster had to be let out for a break today, the ladies were picking on him (He is so submissive its ridiculous for a rooster). I went out at dusk to find him and he was nowhere. Well, we have a star/snowflake that is up in the air on a post above the coop, it was a Christmas decoration, that is on a timer and it comes on at dark. So the Star goes on, The rooster crows, and here I found him. (How he got up there I will never know!) Pretty Funny the star made him crow.
