Utah!

Yep the two whites from the dustbathing picture....lol that's them! The NN is an easy one to spot with the Feathered feet.

That's Gladys. I'm glad she is where I can see her every now and again. Love that girl. Switching out to newbies..if they would just start laying! Man, I swear, I've never had chickens take this long after checking out nest boxes and squatting for over a week! I've checked everywhere to see if they are laying somewhere, not too many hiding places around here..nothing so far..plus, they .. are.. looking into the nest boxes, in and out, in and out. :/ More red pepper tomorrow!

I have a question to any of you receiving this post know of any horse groups in the Mantua/Brigham city area Utah? I have a dog in that area that has been missing for 7 days . And he is dragging a piece of parachute chord attached to a choke collar. He might be stuck on something or just hiding. I was hoping some club or group might be willing to help with the searching in the open areas. He is extremely people shy. So I am thinking he will be out as far away from people as possible. Please sent this to anyone and everyone you think might be willing or able to help. I hope you don't mind me posting here. Call Dixie 702 604 4700 if he is sited. Please don't chase him. His name is Elvis. He has one brown front leg.

Suzierd, I hope you find Elvis! He is very cute. I don't know anyone up that way in a horse group, sorry :(

Oh Cynthia, is it strange if I love how you call all your little babies "tiny tots"? It just makes me smile. I dunno why.

Sooo, I went to see the doctor today and they are checking my thyroid. I've felt like I've had a low grade fever for the past five months, and that may be why. I'm still waiting on the test results. Anyway sorry, just blabbing. It's driving me crazy!

Friends, I just went out to lock up my lady loves for the night and ones of my gold sex-links was dead in the run! I was out there around 3:15, so it has been later this afternoon. Her comb is very slightly bloodied, and she has blood coming from one of her nostrils. I don't know if the comb and the blood in her nose is related -- my sex-links and BRs quibble over food, so an occasional bloody comb isn't unheard of for them. They have always been on the more aggressive side toward each other... I'm totally baffled! No one has been acting sick at all. I recently reseeded part of my lawn, and as you know all grass seed is covered in chemicals. My coop door is weird, and blew open in some wind on Saturday. I wondered if she ate some of the seed? But if she had, wouldn't it affect her sooner? I'm so worried now guys!! I didn't love my sex-links. They are stinkers, and are super aggressive to my other breeds, but I hope she didn't suffer. I hate thinking of animals suffering. And are there any diseases that would make a chicken bleed from her nose, and then die? There are no signs of foul play. We have recently attraced some rats.I haven't ever been around rats, but I don't believe a rat could kill a healthy, and persnickity hen. Right? Thoughts?

She may have had a heart attack...it is more common in aggressive breeds and the blood coming out the nose makes me wonder. So sorry to hear this, never fun to find one deceased like that.

Strange. Yeah. I just googled it and someone recommended searching "ILT" on this site.

Thanks, Lisa and Ace. I looked up ILT and what I found said there are other symptoms that would have cropped up. None of my girls have been sick, so I feel dubious about that one. It's the only disease I've found that would explain blood from the nose, though. I'll be researching heart attacks in chickens now. Lisa, you said a chicken who has had a heart attack will show blood from the nose?

Well, everything that it is not is one step closer to what it is. Good luck!
