Utah!

curse you all lol! y'all are making me want to go out and get some chicks >.< but I can't right now, because being due in July is not going to mix will with integrating new chicks and stuff.... plus, I'm at my limit! (okay, well over by 1/3 (I've got a dutch bantam, she doesn't count as a full chicken lol!)

Speaking of dutch bantams... I am feeling bad for her, because she's in with all of my big girls, and she's the last on the pecking order... I hate seeing her run around all the time, and just scared of getting in there to get food.... I am trying to decide if it would be best to find her another home, even though I love her and her cute little antics lol. Do you think long term she would still be okay with my other chickens? (the previous owner she came from, her other chickens would severely pick on her, and she got her head stuck in the chicken wire, and she said they plucked all the feathers off the top of her head... :(

I've always wanted one that was really snuggly and such, like RJ's ;) (painted toenails and all!)... but I think to get that, I'd have to handle it from really young....

Guys, my black sexlink (the black one in the pics...) Her comb looks VERY pale to me... I don't think that is normal. do I have reason for concern? And what could it possibly be?

I just have the cheap o Little Giant Still Air Incubator. My first hatch wasn't so good. But it also was that more then 1/2 the eggs weren't fertile. The next hatch we did to try again. And we did very well. The 3rd and last hatch was last years Easter Hatch Along and I can't remember how many, but it was over 30 chicks that did hatch. I set 48 but I'm down to 31. 14 of them wasn't even fertile. Then the others where quiters. I didn't really candle all of them before lock down either. I did them at 16 days because of my temp spike to 102 for a few hours. That's when I pulled the quiters, so I just figured to leave them.

But all 3 hatches I had a very hard time getting the humidity to even get to 50 until they start hatching, then its fine. Right now hovering around 42-47. All 3 wells are full of water, and I even have too large surface square tupperware bowls in there with sponges that are soaking wet, but its still not bringing it up. I give up really on the humidity, it is what it is. I do have reptile gauge in there and it always reads higher then the digital one. So that one is almost at 60%. But I just have to say a little prayer that they still hatch, because I can never get it up to 65% until they start hatching. Drives me nuts
