Utah!

That'd be awesome! Thanks, Lisa! :) Still waiting on these little ones to arrive. Any time now!

Looks like this will be my 2nd layer! She's been in the nesting box all morning. I'm really surprised. She's younger and I thought for sure our BR would be next. She's a CAL Ranch EE and our older EE from IFA's hips still feel a ways from laying.

She has some pretty colors going on. Cal's EE's always lay pretty early for me (the ones from Dunlap). They are really consistent layers too, some of the best I have, I pick a few up each season for my OE projects. :D
Usually light greenish gray eggs.

Show season is coming Hey everyone, just a reminder that show season is coming. The salt Lake County fair is Aug 12 I believe and the Utah state Fair is the first part of Sept. The Utah fancy poultry assn. show is in October. If anyone has any questions about showing let me know. its fun and great for kids as well as adults

Ace, how old are the brown leghorns? I am keeping a Wheaten Ameraucana Rooster to make my own SBEL's, a brown one would throw different colored chicks than the usual white with black polka dots. Depending on the age let me know :D

MyPetChicken has them for 3.35 a pullet plus the cost of shipping of $50. Yuck.
On the leghorn Facebook page, a show breeder sent me his link. He sends 12 hatching eggs for $35 plus $20 shipping.
I am just looking to get two pullets. So out of 12 eggs i hope to get a few more girls...

@La Casa de Pollo
I want them for the same reason. I am trying to get the large egg and low fees ratio need into my project. :) but the white is just too boring. Haha. It needs some color!

Brown leghorns have been very hard to find, and I plan to use them in my spring breeding.

Are you sure that's a cockerel? I'm not as familiar with EEs did you have to wait for it to crow? I would have guessed pullet.

Marans? I have a beauty of a Blue C. Marans boy out there! Going to be gorgeous. You need him!
Thanks Cynthia. I have a Blue Marans that I think is far from SOP. He may be headed to freezer camp unless someone want's him. I have ordered some Bev Davis line BCM eggs from Brian Parks and I'm going to focus on BCM only so that I will have fewer pens and a little more focus.

Oh awesome! How old was he when he started fathering babies? I can't wait!

My Marans boy is just over 5 months I think and my RSL eggs are fertile. I just candled 5 last night and 4 are developing. If they work out they will be my first back yard mix.

IPick, your sulking rooster picture made me laugh

A picture is worth a thousand words, right?
Me too! She looks so happy to have "her" picture taken, lol!
Don't know on the lines, just wanted to say that I love Wyandottes. I want another GLW. I love that monarch color. I'll keep my ears open for any breeders.
Thanks Red! Foley is not shipping this time of year so I'm looking everywhere. I'm realizing the SLWs I have are not going to look like the SLW picks that made me fall in love with the breed.

Oh I am 99% sure she is a pullet, she has not yet laid but she is petite and it is not the right red for EE rooster red, I just thought she would make pretty eggs with the rooster that looks so much like her that is having the collar on for quiet.

Oh I see. I thought you were posting a pic of another rooster. You're right you should make 4th of July chicks with a pair like that.
