Utah!

My egg production seems mostly tied to temperature. If it's cold (like in the 20s or below) egg production goes way down since the chickens are tryin to keep wam. Upper 30s and things are mostly normal. You might try feeding a higher protein content feed in winter if you aren't already. My girls did ok last year on that 20% layer feed that ifa has.

I want to try alfalfa. Hearing that is good. Right now I am using Calf Manna as an extra protein. They love it, and it doesn't take much.

They do free range, maybe she has found a sunny place to go about her thing! I use the ifa feed and scratch as a treat. The kids have been going crazy on the scratch lately wanting to treat them for being out in the cold. I'm just paranoid and want to make sure I'm not missing some illness or something because it's my first flock.

Rockmomma, I wouldn't be surprised if she's hiding a nest somewhere. I had a Leghorn that did that to me sooooo much! I would find upwards of 24 eggs in a single cache.......stinkers

And some of their hiding places are pretty sneaky, too!

So I love the picture of the BO using someone's head as a chair, lol!

To the egg production reduction question...my 8 month old EE's are still laying through the shorter sunshine days....though my almost 2 year olds are all down to one egg a week or less since they are all in or at the end of a molt added to the shorter day problem. I would check for a hidden nest also. Yours may be going through a soft moult though and that can cause a slow in production.

Here is one of my frizzles that I hatched a couple of days before Halloween for the hatch a long. Hoping it's a girl!

Put her on a white paper towel to show how dark she is.

Oopps, how did this dog picture get in? Ha..had my camera
may as well take a picture. They always follow me back to the
door hoping for treats. Nah, it's because they love me soo much.
At least I know the dog does! :D

Cynthia, that is the most awesome frizzle.

Speaking of frizzles, I just realized my frizzle Ms Frizzle looks like Justin Bieber in a hoodie. I guess if it turns out to be a roo I have name ready...
