Utah!

Lisa, you are first in line for the Auraconas..they will lay blue eggs for sure! And, they are pullets..I only have 4 coming, let's hope they make it here healthy, and see if I want to keep one after I choose from the others.

Sounds great, just let me know what is available. Then Plan B if something goes wrong with these I could get more of the Ameraucanas. Just 3 total blue egg layers, then the BA. Perfect plan :) I will have 11 in my flock after that, my max poop threshold is 12, I promised myself, so that leaves room for one more in the Spring or if you have anything fun when I come up I could add another :p :p Thanks a bunch! Now I am really excited. Chickens are so fun. :D

I have seen the Araucanas...they look pretty silly with no butts haha. I guess they have a potential lethal gene so they are more rare due to hatching problems? I never thought I would be able to get one around here, so I am excited.

I'm not needing the pure Araunca (sp? never can get it right) for breeding, I just want the positive blue eggs too. I have a true banty and the eggs look like a Robin's egg -- so friggin cute! My only thing is I need to try to get them (chicks that is) all at once so I don't have staggered brooders. I only hv rm for two and I'm really trying to talk my husband into ordering meat birds.

So if I do place an order I can take partial orders for people that can't wait for IFA's. I'm just trying to see how the weather is for the next couple weeks. If we are going to have a continued light winter (crystal ball anyone?) than I'll order soon. I just can't put very many in our garage. We had 25 last early spring and unknown to us, my husbands tools were rusting away in their tool boxes! The coop was nothing close to damp, nothing was wet, dry chickeny cobwebs on the ceiling, etc... he was shocked and kinda mad (to put it nicely). Some were pricey millwright tools. oops.

So this next batch will go on our deck with lights and boarding up at night for critter protection. Except if I get the lav cochins, they are going in my office. joking. They will be in the garage until weather's right and then they will live on our deck and in a tractor on the lawn).

Seriously tho -- if I spend the money on the little couple -- is there anyone wanting their offspring?

They'd make awesome pets! Reminds me a lot of Izzy (weird too cause she was a cream pyle). She'd tootle over to my husband when he'd be doing at his workbench and she'd hop on his arm and watch him. She also tried to make a nest in a little box of nails. She was sooo cute. I kinda think that's how I'll be able to talk him into this pair.

Could be, but today I can really see the difference in the neck feathers and tail feathers, and yes, the comb in bigger, hard to see in these photos..we can wait and see another couple of weeks.
I would much rather sell my babies to friends here than on ksl!

Showed the pics to the DH, he said they are really cute.

He thinks the one with the darker head is a roo, is that the one you are thinking? As soon as you hear a crow, I'll be there with cash.

Now, if he'll just crow by the time the lavs hatch so I only have to make one trip. I'm kinda glad I have another week, I need to sell some a leather coat I have to support this chicken addiction, I mean habit.

Boy, you all got chatty today!

I miss chick cam so bad...still waiting on IFA to get theirs in. Cant get in any sooner . and I want ckicks. the 25 min that some hatchries want this time of year are carzy when I can only have 5 county says. I just cant wait. Even talking to fam about growing meal worms... I must be crazy like they think..

Every one take care

I'm sorry that chick-cam is down- I moved them to a big rubbermaid tote, and the camera doesn't reach from the laptop to the box. I have an old broken laptop (the case is broken, it runs perfectly), and I'm thinking about setting that up and hooking the camera up that way.

Cynthia, I hope you are saving one of the lavender americauna pullets (predicted) for me!

Yes, you and Elk have spoken for the lavenders..now if I can get them to hatch. I just got a message from the gal that I wrote to, to let her know about my eggs I got from her last week. All were bad but two or three, I have three in now, not sure about the third, just watching. Anyway, she said she sent off some more today. Some folks are really great business people. She had some real pretty "large" blue eggs in there. It felt horrible throwing away those big beautiful blue eggs. They are the ones that will be blue, black, and splash.

Anybody want my Black Australorp Hen? She came out of molt a few weeks ago and lays around 3-4 eggs a week. Just 10$ :) I don't need her anymore. I've got another girl just starting to lay. I'm in Orem. PM me if you want her.

Um, chatty would be me.

I promise I won't take all her lav chickies - I like to share.

Oh... you said pullets. Now I am SO confused about which batch and what chicks. I know the lav chicks I'm wanting are in eggies right now (and will share) and I'm unclear if she also has live lav chicks being delivered as well? So many chicks...so much confusion...so little room!

Cynthia - sorry to hear about another egg batch arriving damaged. It's not quite like an Amazon delivery, each egg is a potential little peeper for someone to love.

Hector, are you selling the buff orpinton? If so, I can tell everyone that it is pure, she used to be mine, and she is getting pretty.

I'm just thinking positively, ElkMtn. The one that I pick WILL be a pullet. I just KNOW it. LOL

I read something once about using their wings to sex, even as young as at IFA, etc. I can't remember the details or where, probably somewhere on this board.

I also read that holding them by the feet upside down - if they reached up they're a roo, stayed down a hen (think I got that right). I tested it with some of my chicks and it did not work. The wing one I couldn't figure out.

So I'll just

KNOW you'll pick a pullet too!
