Open Contest Winter on the Farm Photo Contest

Very pretty boys. One of my favorite rooster was a RIR. Love that color.
The one on the left unfortunately hit the terrible teens hard, and I souped him right after he attacked a broody who wouldn't squat for him.

The one on the right is shaping up to be a good boy though. He's still very rough with the girls when it comes to mating but otherwise a perfect gentleman towards both the flock and me. I know the lighter hackle isn't ideal SOP-wise but I don't breed for exhibition, and I love how it looks in the sunshine - like he's on fire.

Since I'm talking about him, I might as well enter another photo of him. This still doesn't do his hackle colour justice - IRL he's luminous.

Thanks for the heads-up on the contest, but personally, I'm beginning to think that this winter will never melt away!

I'm jealous of all the snow everyone has in their pictures! My flock just got some frost bitten combs due to the high winds and extreme cold last month 😞 Other than that it's been very dry.
