Utah!

Sphinx..looks like the left one could be the pullet here. Wow, what a difference in size. But actually, they both have the smaller comb than Lisa's wide combed one.
I should get a picture of mine on here. Will have to go out tomorrow and get one.

SDWarren, good luck with your inspection. What breeds and names does your daughter have picked out?

Thanks! Here's what she's picked out:
Buff Orpington named Lucy
Barred Rock named Ethel
Brahma named Flo
Wyandotte named Alice

Actually, she originally came up with Lucy, Ethel, Flo, and Bessie. We told her that Bessie was a good cow name and steered her (no pun intended) to Alice. She already had one classic TV funny gal duo, so we thought we'd go for the daily double. She had a blast looking through photos of all the different breeds. Anybody have any suggestions on where to get these particular chicks?

SDW, love the duo names!! I have a Laverne and Shirley, working on an Ozzie and Harriet.... haha....depends on what hatches this week and Cynthia's :D :D :D

I saw all three at IFA and Cal last spring, I do not remember seeing Brahmas though. The other three were there quite often. About $3 bucks ish I believe. I had the best luck with my IFA chicks, they have all been really healthy and sweet (4) . My Cal chicks (4) had issues..one died as a chick, one had to be put down recently for reproductive issues, and the other 3 fought like cats and dogs until I gave one away. Might be coincidence  but if I had to go back and do it again I would have stuck with the IFA chicks.

sdwarren... I'll have some buff orpington pullet chicks at the Rocky Mountain Chickenstock on May 5th if you haven't found one by then..

Changed my Avatar for now. Sooo looking forward to some green and other colors in the yard again. This was last Spring. My dog Toby. What a sweet dog..and smart!

My bigger Lavender (who is now named Iris) was always the monster of the group of four I brought home. Lucy (the smaller one) was the smallest of the four. Lisa took the two mediumish ones. Both of mine were the ones that Cynthia pegged as girls. I always felt like that one of Lisa's was a girl though, so I'm not at all she's still looking girly. Yes, let's definitely compare in a week or two.

SDWarren, if you're not looking for show quality, I agree- go to IFA. I had great luck with my chicks there, and thought they were very cute. And keep in mind that just because "they" say something isn't show quality, doesn't mean it can't be a visually stunning bird. I love the names she's picked out. Very cute.

I'm definitely not looking for show quality. Thanks for the suggestions. We were thinking of going the IFA route.

Cynthia--Cute avatar! Any pips yet ? If you have a good hatch, maybe 2 for me.....maybe....haha.......I did find a home for my lav if he is indeed a boy. Just waiting to be sure, a few more weeks :) I am glad I have somewhere for him!

Waiting for chickie updates :)

Sphinx, if your combs are in between then I guess the jury is out and will cross fingers :fl !!

I went in about an hr. ago, I have a pip. It's pipped quite close to the end of the egg though..it is at the right end at least.
