Utah!

Whoaaa, Lisa, when I first saw your egg picture with the coin, I thought it was a dime. Then I took a closer look and realized it was a quarter. Ouch indeed! Them hens must be named Helga!

I hope your nearly-deads make it okay to hatch. I would really love to shamelessly get a chick from you :D And I'll do my darnedest not to kill it..............

Hey Sphinx, you should totally come down if we do a tour day in Magna and WV.

Helga indeed haha :)

The good thing about my chicks....if they do hatch they should be toughened up enough to withstand your abuse lol! I have already put them through the obstacle course.

I have to, just have to..do another...

My Welsummer that I have up for sell lays big ones, but not quite that big!.., and she isn't that big a girl..speckled eggs, cute.
Oh, and you have never had a double yolker in those eggs?? You must get some pretty big egg yolks! Yum!
You have a Welsummers for sale? How old? My middle son loves Welsummers!

"overrun with chickens" is just the tip of the iceberg for you girl!! haha! You need a WAREHOUSE :p

Hm, a warehouse...now there's an interesting thought... NO, NO, WAIT! Must resist! Bad idea, bad!

The really scary part is that I go up to Duchesne tomorrow to collect eggs...and what will I do with said eggs? Wellllll, the incubator has an entire shelf empty, you know. And it would be a shame to let the eggs go to waste...soooo...

Ack! Someone save me! The incubator is possessed and imposing its evil plans on me to take over the planet with baby chicks!

wow those are some big eggs! one day i heard one of my black sex links singing the loudest egg song i have ever heard, ran to the coop to make sure everything was okay, saw the sex link singing away and moving kinda funny and then found a triple yolker with some blood on it  the poor girl! i wish i would of blew out the egg and saved it but sadly i was not thinking :(

She is on ksl..15 months. I have a picture of her eggs there, but just took a pic of the one she laid today! Will download it..they are very pretty.
That pretty egg on the right side of the Welsummers', is the barred rocks'. She just started to lay not long ago, they are getting bigger. Still small though for such a big girl. I like the color of her egg, and it is so smooth.
It's big around..not long like my red sex link.. my leghorn lays a pretty good sized egg, can see that the Welsummer's is about the same size..and speckled. :)
She isn't very big, that's the red sex link on the right..of course. ;) Oh, and Dalls' little head on the left. :p

Lisa started the egg pictures..

yeah it was huge. she still lays huge eggs but not triple size. most my bsl lay huge eggs, its hard to fit them in a carton. i just love the the bsl, and mine all look different, one even has the neck feathers like a welsummer. they are one of my favorite breeds :)

Good to know! I remember you talking about your BSL's awhile ago, we were talking about GSL versus BSL and you raved about yours....that is what prompted me to get one this spring, so far mine has been very sweet, "mojo" is her name :) Hope she lays big eggs like yours!

Okay, I'm in a bit of a panic here--those Isbars I received two days ago are dropping like flies. 7 have died so far. They look perfectly healthy and are all eating a drinking (we've watched them as well as hand feeding them). An hour later we go in the room and one will be dead. The two we found this morning were barely alive and we couldn't save them. I'm mainly worried at this point because these birds were put into the brooder with come of my BLRW's for a couple of hours while I was getting their brooder set up. I don't know what to think, but it is crossing my mind now that these Isbars might have some contagious disease.

This whole transaction was just a little odd. I won the auction and paid right away, but then didn't hear from the seller for more than 24 hours--given that it was a $300 transaction, one would think I would hear from them faster. Emailed them several times before they responded. Then they sent the birds and 19 were in the box. I texted the guy (he had already texted me several times and he told me one was a blue marans, but that the rest should be Isbars. He followed that with "There were a few that had slipped out of their section in the hatcher that could be something else but don't think so." At first I was seriously irritated with this, given they just admitted they might not all be Isbars, but when I looked the chicks over carefully, there was only one I questioned at all.

One other thing--these were not all day old chicks. At least two of them were probably about 10-14 days old and another couple were probably a week old. Not sure on the others, but they definitely weren't all from the same hatch time period.

I've texted the seller regarding the deaths--I still have the 12 chicks promised, so I am not yet within rights to insist on refunds or anything, but I am worried about these chicks passing disease to my own birds.

Sheesh, and here I though getting chicks would be better than trying to hatch shipped eggs.

Donna this is awful! I hope the rest make it, and there is no disease! You have soooo many, that would be a disaster indeed. And such an investment in all those nice breeds. Crossing fingers the rest are ok! I would be so worried too.
