Utah!

they say on the bag at 8 weeks but i think you would be okay feeding it now, my young buff is about 5 weeks now? and eats about half all flock and half starter-grower by her choice. all flock means what it says, it feeds all the flock. chick starter and all this fancy feed has not been around forever so i do not believe you have to fallow all the rules. keep it simple

Yep, I agree with birdman - jwoo, your chicks might be fine on all flock. I have started 5-wk-olds on it and they did good, and my boyfriend actually feeds new little chicks regular scratch and they've been alright.

I really can relate..happened to me in Feb..but they weren't the real expensive chicks, but still, it was not fun watching those babies die one after another. I truly hope you are past the worst..if you are giving them electrolytes, can I suggest something? Don't give them the full dose. I found that their little bodies were already in shock as it was, and when I gave then the electrolytes, they would actually get worse. They would just lay there and jerk and twitch until they died. So,now. I only give them just enough that the water looks barely, and I mean barely tinted yellow, the color of the electrolytes. I don't even measure..I just go by how there is just a tint to the water. Just a thought. Good luck, let us know how it is going!

Good point on the elctrolytes. It's nice to know that I've been mixing it correctly for my chicks, too. I don't ever measure, I just guestimate and put a trickle in the water bottle, which is just enough that it looks a bit foggy when mixed in. Still very much clear and white, though. I'd rather err on the side of caution and just give them a taste than too much.

Well what a shame shows and fairs are such fun! And I feel the same way Red ;) I thought they were gross, smelly and had mites lol! Now I'm addicted. Well I hope I'll get to meet some of you guys at the fairs if any of you are going. I'm hoping to attend about all of them in the Utah area, I'll be looking forward to it.

I've actually never given electrolytes. I've seen them in Dallas Greens etc.but I never have really thought about it although I may when we begin to ship farther out of state do you guys see any difference with them?

Jimminy crickets Don't read for a day and there is 5 pages. Sorry cant read every post but there are some real nice pictures. . We dyed the eggs today and guess what green and brown eggs dye just fine. And on a side note any one know what to incubate button quail at. I have a dozen coming tomorrow and I hope my home made incubator is up to the challenge.

Donna, I am so, so sorry about your chicks dying. That would be so frustrating, and scary as well. I'm trying to resist the urge to buy some BLRW eggs from you- I'm disappointed that I have four roos and one pullet. We'll see how these next two hatches go- if I'm still overrun in roos, I may officially ask you.

Quality Polish, I really want to show, but so far, I haven't had any show quality birds. I think I'd like to get into it, once I have the stock.

Went to the feed store today. Pictures to follow.

When I went there, the employee asked what I needed. I told her feed and shavings, and if I said I wanted chicks, to tell me NO, that I could NOT have chicks. She started laughing and said her job was to sell chicks so she'd tell me no such thing.

Then, they only had 2 of those cart things, and both of them were being used, so I had to wait to get my stuff til those people had checked out.

Then, they had a TON of EE (my favorite breeds) and silkies. There was also a lady there who was buying 10 EE and wanted us to help her pick them out.

And I picked a GLW out of her BSL, and the employee asked me if I was a chicken guru (so, obviously trying to flatter me into buying chicks).

I want to hear more predictions on what will be in my pictures before I post it.
