Utah!

I'm glad she likes them!

I still have about 15 EE hens and 5 RIR roosters that I'd love to rehome before winter.... if they're still here in a month, they're dinner!

Question for y'all... I've asked around and been told that $5 each for my EE is a fair price. They cost me $3 each as day-olds, so that sounded fair to me.

Anyway, the last person who contacted me about being interested in them stopped replying after I gave the price of $5 each with a discount if he/she took all 15 of them. Didn't get a "no thanks" or a "can we negotiate the price" or anything

just a complete stop in communication.

So my question is: is $5 for a 10-week old EE pullet too much to charge? I'm planning on putting an ad on KSL so I can get these girls out of here (and my RIR roosters too - I'm only asking $1 each for them, so I know I'm not overcharging!!).

Thanks all!

Personally, I think that's quite reasonable and fair for pullets. Maybe something else came up for your potential buyer.

I see plenty of roo's advertised for free, though. In fact, my friend (who bought your Polish hens) took her roo's to the IFA and to be adopted out for free.

Hope that wasn't me... of course I didn't get the discount part, so guess not!

I'm waiting for my broody's eggs to hatch this weekend. But, I don't think they're going to hatch because, mamma has spent (too much?) time off of her eggs. I'll give them to Sunday night or Monday... if no chicks... I might be interested in 2 or 4 of them.

Are your EE's laying yet?
[edit... 10 week olds, guess not]

Okay, that's good to know!

And honestly, for the roosters, if someone wanted to come and get them they could have them for free! I was saying $1 each, because when I told someone on another list they were free, she started asking what was wrong with them.... I guess if you charge $1 for them, they're okay, but if they're free, they must be horrible evil mutants or something

I put an ad on KSL today, so I'll see if I can get them sold that way.

ETA: I'm going to be at the Salt Lake Intl Airport tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon, so for anyone who lives down that way that doesn't want to drive up to North Ogden to pick them up, let me know and I'll bring them with me!

"Midnight" our first time mamma black australorp, got off of her eggs I bought on eBay, at times for 2+ hours in the last 3 weeks.

When I put her back on, I felt the eggs, which were cold. It's been 23 days. I was going to give up and boot her off the eggs tonight and get her back to laying eggs.

My boy just called and said, "Dad, there's chirping under midnight..."

Nature - Pretty amazing if you ask me!

Last year my BR pullets didn't start laying until 27-28 weeks. The rest of my hens had gone to molt, so no one was laying from Halloween to Easter--I'm really hoping that's not the case this year! Then everyone started laying within ten days--including the quail inside the house. I got my first quail eggs the same day I got my first two chicken eggs. lol Be patient, with the reducing light every day their bodies are slowing down. I think the cold affects them too and we went from HOT weather to very chilly overnight (man, I wish just for once we could get a beautiful fall with a couple of weeks in the 70s.)

Good luck on the eggies. It's so nerve-wracking waiting for those first ones!

I've been waiting months! All I got was a tiny little egg about a month ago

I have 4 EE hens, all the same age, and none of them are paying rent!
