Utah!

I cannot believe how dark those eggs are! That one on the bottom left looks more like a Marans egg.....crazy! Hey Cynthia, I can see the math in your head already figuring out how to make room for one or two of those girls.....we are like junkies, no? The beautiful eggs make me crazy! You too Cindy, you are an egg junkie and ya know it

So True! I am thinking I might just need a few hens that lay each color egg...But the big question is which ones do I need and which Rooster to keep...I am thinking of just keeping a FBCM Rooster and then figure out which hens to keep.
What do ya think?

Blu, I use my hand to gather eggs, since lately there's only ever one in the nest box, if any. Sometimes, when there are more than I can carry in my hands, I use my shirt, woo! But it's been a while since I've had to resort to that.

Cynthia, those eggs!!

Beautiful! I am in love with that mottled one in the middle.

That reminded me when I went out and picked up the egg one morning...Stuck it in my pajama pocket, then went to feed the goats and one jumped up for a hug and smashed the egg...strange feeling having egg running down your leg.

Good idea. That is what I would do! That way you could have the three fun colors----dark brown eggs from the FBCM hen, Blue eggs from your Ameraucana Hen, AND if you breed the FBCM roo with your blue egg layer, the chicks would be mostly olive green layers. Fun! If you do it then I will buy fertile eggs/chicks from you next season for sure....those are the colors I am wanting to keep going in my flock, a few less tan layers. Those FBCM roos from pawtraitart are soooo beautiful. So are the ones on that sellers page that Cynthia posted. Love the way those boys look.

Your FBCM will come from here: www.qcupoultry.com. (pawtraitart)You should check it out...

That is what I am thinking, the olive eggers intrigue me...I just need to make the decision on who to keep for sure...I am not good at letting them go.
This is perfect. Bet Jess loves it!
She can't wait until it is full, kind of funny when she only gets one or two eggs. they get lost in the grass.

Picture Brad??   Bet it's cool looking.

Lisa, Shinx, those are nice baskets.  I'm only needing my hand right now..only getting two eggs..waiting on Maggy, she is the NH..and getting pinker.  Guess who's finally getting pink too?  My black EE I couldn't tell if it was a boy or girl.  It's a girl.  Awww, maybe she will give me a pretty green egg.  I wondered if she would ever turn pink, but it's starting to.  :)
no picture sorry. its just a simple wire basket that looks old and holds a few dozen eggs. i love that it has chicken wire on it :) i think it was only $2

I just had the neatest experience. I've only had this happen twice before. I was candling the Exchequers that I have in, and knew I would be seeing little embyos. Well, I got to see the heart beat on one of them. Wow, fast little heart beats in the beginning. Amazing.

Lisa..I don't think those pencils will be laying for a while. They sure are getting big though. Mine is getting a bit bossy, guess she knows she's getting big! I'm with Brad, I think he guessed Aug. My barred rock took forever, but it was winter. My partridge also took a long time, but it is the one that gave me a huge egg, and, double at that!

Had similar experiences- I've used my pockets, and had them break because I'd forget they were in my pockets. Plus, I occasionally house sit for a friend, and her girls would usually have 4-5 eggs for me, which is tough for me to hold onto AND lock up her house and drive home. If I had a cute basket, 1- I'd have a cute basket and 2- It'd be awfully hard for me to forget there were eggs in it. I like the idea of some grass at the bottom too.

I went to Taipan today, and no wire baskets.

Speaking of olive eggs, wanted to show you all the eggs I set. Isn't "Emily" beautiful? (I begged the kids to give the eggs mainly girl names this time around)
