Utah!

Teerex those chicks are so cute. I would love a bantam Cochin but I have heard they don't do well in the heat.

So enjoy her for me. My son and daughter in law just got three Cochins. They are so sweet.

Cynthia here is a resent picture of our partridge with the rest of the gang. She was the one who was broody a month ago and since then has been molting. So she is a bit ragged.

Teerex..those are darling! I love the dark wyondottes. That cochin is going to get a loot bigger. :)) They are the sweetest gentle giants. Have you had them before? Pretty babies!

Oh wait, unless your cochin is a bantam, they are sweethearts too..I've had several of those in the past.

Sweet Wyandottes and Cochin T-Rex. Congrats! They are so tiny. Do you think the cochin is buff? And are its feet very furry yet? Looks pretty cute

Thanks everyone. They are all supposed to be bantams but not 100% sure. The Cochin already has really furry feet.

Oh yeah, I want that color. Very pretty..and what a darling coop!
Ok, I am seeing that you need some blue, or blue splash with those beauties. :)) I should have some soon. :)

Sasha I'm glad that your reunion went well for you. Sorry about the weather. You need to come to southern Utah your chances will be much better for good weather.

Yay for your two little babies!

Big news! My last little one hatched and is doing just fine!

All five made it. I'm so very happy.
Yay! Congratulations on your hatch! Southern Utah sounds wonderful. :)

That coop is darling. I have 2 coops but they are too small. My husband is going to build one for me very soon. a 4x8 that I can more easily clean that the two I have, I remodeled one so it is more easily cleaned but the other one just is too hard for me,

Great Idea! We should send a warning first that we are on our way so they can hide the chickens especially lol
I agree! Let's plan on it! Good thinking, Bird-Man!
Silly story. You guys know how I have told you my BR Violet likes to alert me when someone lays an egg. She hollers like crazy when she sees an egg "Mom, come get this egg!" waits for me to come and sits by the next box door waiting for my hand to come in because she gets a treat (mealy worm or popcorn) . We have put fake eggs in the nest when she is not looking, and once she spots it, she runs out and hollers every time. It is quite comical when we fool her. Well, now, for the past week or so, she lays her egg in the morning, gets her treat, then for several hours afterward keeps standing in the nest box, waiting, looking underherself to see if another egg comes out. I think she wants to have more eggs so she can have more treats. This bird is so sweet, but dumb as a box of rocks, I just love her. I have been watching her this morning, and when she sees me in the yard, with the treat bag, she runs into the nest and gets in and just watches uderneath.....hoping and praying for an egg to come out. At least this is how it all appears to me, it is so funny. I thought at first she was going broody, but that is not it. She genuinely seems to want to get the laying egg treats. Funny girl! I do not know what I will do when her time comes, I wish I could have her forever. . She lays every day, just a great bird. I think I should slip that fake egg under her and give her a treat anyway. She deserves it

Love this story, Lisa. Too funny.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but I have already had some correspondence with "La Casa de Pollo" and Sasha. I live in Cache Valley, and I have mostly ducks (Runner, Welsh Harlequin, and Cayuga), but I also have 8 RIR chickens. I'm in the market for some muscovies, and maybe a few good tempered geese. We also have 3 goats, 2 wethers and a female born a couple of months ago. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and say "Hello." I have often used BYC as a reference, but never started posting, until now.

Hello All,
Dave
Hi again, Dave! Welcome to the Utah thread.

You have Welsh Harlequins? I'm so in love with those ducks! I would love to get a couple, however, the ducks are what my oldest daughter is involved with, so I let her make the decisions, and she currently has her heart set on the Anconas. She has a chocolate runner that is almost 6 weeks old and Sierra is trying to rehome her/him. Are you interested?

Yep, the cochin is a bantam. :) Cute little bugger. The 2 cochins (one is frizzled) that I have follow me everywhere and I always have to be careful where I step!

Hey Lisa, I don't think the cochin is a buff. She's kind of dark creamy yellow on top, but when I part her fluff, it's blue underneath on the top of her back and wings. Hmm, interesting! Her little feet are definitely furry!

Maybe I'll get a few in the future. Who knows? Harlequins are beautiful!

Thanks for the comment on my coop. It was a gift for our 30th wedding anniversary.

If you will remember I have a HOA and I have to have it looking exceptionally nice. It is work trying to keep it this way but I'm so happy they are letting me have chickens. If only when we were buying our house I would have already had the chicken bug then I would have bought differently. Oh well some day.
