Utah!

It sounds like a very eventful day, Hattie. Aren't you down in Southern Utah? What a drive!

Lisa, love the improvements done to your coop.

Daloorashans, love the 5 week old banty mom. That is really sweet!

It's official. My chicks are brats.

Stinker hatched in the night. Grrrrr. Hopefully the Sussex will come out soon now that I am back in this chair watching haha! What did the olive egg chick look like?

Glad you got your babies Daloorashens! That is so cute with the mommy in there. One of my polish did that, hollered and hollered and hollered til about 11 pm but has finally settled down and happy now. Masked Villian is def my favorite, but looking at them I am pretty sure that is my roo. These guys are way cute. I do miss the mass fluffball buffs in there though, they were so sleepy and sweet. Hattie, so good you made it to your destination, and accomplished your chicken missions so far haha :p It is so fun to meet everybody huh! Have a great time visiting your ma and family!

Oh I forgot! The babies I picked up today from Hattie. Phone pics, blurry again, will get better ones tomorrow---look at the black face on that one there. Haha I think it looks like a masked villian

Maybe we will name then OJ and Kato haha

My son says name them Tanto and Lone Ranger. Any good ideas?
Where did you get the polish?

I know!! Emily (the olive egg) hatched in the middle of the night. Brat. The olive egg is a yellow chick. It looks like there could be a hint of russet coloring in there as well, but she's really quite light. I thought for sure the olive egg would be a black chick. I tried to take a picture, but it's so blurry it's useless. I'll take one a little later.

Shirley reallllllly looks like a BCM, except the legs are pink and there's no feathering. And speaking of legs, MASSIVE tree trunk legs.

The coronation sussex I thought for sure was dead, but this morning I could see it moving around, so I guess Chloe is just being polite and waiting for the kids to be at school before she hatches.

ETA: Cynthia, I went out to check on the lavender this morning, and she's walking around quietly, acting completely normal. So, I think I shall call her Wheezy.

Cool pics Lisa!! I love the coop!! Sure you can go down to 20 by fall??

Jill, so fun to meet you and talk about these silly chickens...Those pics Lisa posted of your polish chicks are too cute!!

Lisa, these little chicks are too funny!! They drank and ate tonite after a little nap. Oh, and one of them was soo loud and would finally quiet down when I came out to look at it. I need to go to bed, so I finally figured it needed a mom, since it would quiet down when I put my hand down and touch it a little. So I brought in one of the 5 week old chicks from the garage (way too dusty for the house now). I brought in one of the Bantam chicks that's looking like a hen, the squawking chick was quiet right away and hid its head underneath her, LOL!! That's why I loved Bantams, they love being moms, I never thought they would do it at 5 weeks, though=) Haha

See?? I had to sneak and get a pic=)

Aww, too cute..I've put babies in with olde chicks..like my Exchequer chick I have left is in with an older, probably by a week and a half older, Sexlink. It loves the sexlink, follows it around and eats when it does, sleeps when it does. That's interesting that your bantam being that much older just kicked in and took it all in like, ok, this is what I do. :) Cute picture!!

Oh great! I didn't get on early enough to see the green egg baby. Wendy, are you going to post pictures? Yellow? No green legs? That's interesting. Wonder if it will lay a green or brown egg.
Do you know how happy I was to hear that the lavender is doing better? Is she weezing? Is that why you are calling her that? It's been more than 24 hrs now here, and my chickens are still well. If yours are still well, you should be ok. That poor girl, she's just a delicate little thing. Wonder what she will do when that first big ol egg comes out of her. I think you may hear about that one if you are home when it happens.

Long traveling day but finally in bed. It was so much fun meeting you Lisa! It was just not enough time to talk about chickens! Or and who's who in family ties. Ugh! Meeting off of the freeway was very convinent (thank you) but a bummer place for hanging out for awhile. We will give it another try Friday. So glad to meet you and your cute boy. I love how much he loves the chicks.
It was a crazy ride with 20 chicks,18 month old, and a 4 year old. The noise level was......... high.

good thing I love both the chicks and my grand kids.
I also got to meet Daloorashen. In a parking lot. I was passing off more chickens. Haha. So fun meeting her also. I think I froze her to death standing out in the cold talking chickens. So much fun! Thanks for chatting with this old chicken lady.
Good luck on the hatch Lisa! You should have never told me where you buy your eggs! This incubating will never end now.
Cynthia it will be Saturday that I come through your town. Hope that will be ok. I'm taking good care of your little chickes and by the way Lisa isn't joking on the red fingernail polish. Hahaha I couldn't believe it when I saw them. Seriously too funny. I'll send a pic tomorrow.
The bird guy I'm coming to see you next!

I'll get in touch with you.

Sat..will be here. I can't believe you have traveled all around with so much going on! You are something else to do this for so many of us. Thanks!

Cynthia, when my dh heard the noise, he said, "That's not breathing issues, that's whining". But, Whiney just doesn't have the same ring as Wheezy. She is acting completely and totally normal today. Perfectly healthy. Someone theorized that it was just her being sad, and looking for her old flock. With her acting normally today, I'm thinking her noises were emotional trauma. Especially since she was quiet when I held her and petted her. She's definitely more friendly to me now than she was before her petting session yesterday.

I'm not sure when the olive baby hatched. I got on at 6am (when dh wakes up), and she was out, and looked like she had been for a while. I'm guessing it was 2-3 in the morning. And yeah, I'm genuinely SHOCKED over her appearance. I thought for sure it'd be a black chick with green legs. Emily (the olive chick) is mostly yellow, looks like she'll have some auburn or chestnut hints, and pink legs and a single comb. I think she's a girl.

Corvidae, are you still out there? Haven't seen you in a while.

Shinx, I told my hubby that last night, that she is missing the Speckled Sussex. She and the Sussex were always together, hardly left each others side. I hope she becomes friends with another one there at your place like that.

I have so many eggs in lock down right now..in three different bators. Crazy. Only two of my icleandics made it to lock down..this morning. I have the wons that I won in the hatch a long in lock down..due Fri..and then there are the pretty marans eggs, only 5 left of those in with two more Exchequer eggs that a gal sent more of because she didn't have enough for the first expected delivery.
I don't know if I dare say how many other eggs I have in my other bator..oh dear, mostly silkie, and show girl, with more wellies, since I didn't get many of the others. I'm excited about the ones in my new bator, I have some of catdances show quality silkies in there, to me, all that means is, they will have more vaulted heads..most of them..and that's what I like, I don't show of course. But, she does have nice S shaped Silkies.."The Look".

Then in there with them are the ones that a man has been breeding a pure lavender Ameraucana to white leghorns. The babies lay blue blue eggs, that's how he described it. He also sent some olive eggs, but they aren't as pretty as the green egg that the one Shinx just hatched. I am also thinking these should be black, but on one of the green eggs, he has blue written on it..hmmmm.. I hope that one hatches! These all have a while before lock down. But, I have most of them sold already! People can't find Silkies and showgirls around here, so they want them, and I ~ so far, haven't even had to put them up on ksl to sell them. I do sell cheap.

I took the bantam out this morning and within about 10 minutes the chicks were squawking again... silly things!!

Cynthia, what is an Exchequer? can you post pics??

Lisa, didn't you say you're expecting your OE's to hatch?? the Maran's too??

Exchequers are leghorns..with color! Black color. Found a picture of one, will get pictures of my baby I have right now, and a teen I have outside. I love the leghorn, you can ask Wendy how nice my white girl is.

You get nice sized eggs from them, and they lay almost as often as the white leghorn, but I hear not quite as often..more like 6 eggs a week instead of 7. Oh well!
