Utah!

Oh, I have the Wheaton sold already! Lisa, I saw those eggs when I looked up that gal, and I am thinking...very nice!

I have one of my Silkies up for sale on ksl. Very pretty. The blue one is sold. The buff is left.

Glad she is sold! I put Shirlee (EE from a FBCM/Ameraucana) up on ksl this morning. Had two calls....still working on it :) She is laying so good, I would love to keep her, but she fights with my Buff Orp. One guy that called said there is a big chicken sell up there in the Wellsville area where the Kingstons live? (polygamists)? He said there were a thousand chickens they were selling. Anybody on here know anything about that? Sounds kind of sketchy.....

Woohoo!

Ooo, the little, umm, I mean tall stalker. :) How's life? Keeping busy in this heat?? Man, I took the hose to my chickens again today. I spray them down. It's so funny, my leghorn and red sexlink, love it. The pullets kind of move around, but they like the wet ground when I'm done. Loots of water out there for them..keep putting the cooler water in. I should have my DH look into doing those water nipples like you are talking about. So many neat ideas on here!

Mine love the sprinklers, When the sprinkler is on in the back yard part of it goes in the coop. They love it they will stand under the spray with wings out sooo cute,

:yuckyuck

According to my calculations, driving 2 hours to get a $5 chicken makes the total cost zero. Because you can deduct mileage.....from the cost of the chicken. Right?

They found my truck. The kid that stole it tried to use it to steal a pop machine in Delta and crashed it. Don't know if it's even drivable at this point. The cops said it smells like it's burning oil and the driver's side is banged up. The kid tried to claim that he knew my boyfriend and that he gave him the keys. He's going to jail.

Oh you guys, I'm glad they found it and busted the kid, but I don't know whether to cry or what

My boyfriend just went through a really horrible divorce and is still trying to get things settled, and he was the one who's paying for the truck. Long story short, he bought it for me and we've been sharing it. Now we have a truck that we probably can't drive and still have to pay on, plus pay more to have it fixed if it's even worth it. I'm so upset right now

Hope everyone is doing well. Didn't read through the most recent posts yet. Sorry. Hugs to you guys, and thanks for letting me vent here.

DO NOT PAY TO HAVE THE TRUCK FIXED. MAKE THAT @@##$%$ criminal do it. Either see if he has insurance on another car or see if your insurance will fix it or sere if the crime victims reparation fund will pay for it. I am so sorry. Wish I could help more

ok now no more chicks have pipped in incubator 1 how long should I wait for them to hatch. Incubator 2 is due to hatch tomorrow it has the true Auraconas and a couple of sizzles . I had so much fun doing this I ordered more sizzle eggs and I ordered some mille fluer dUncle eggs and I ordered some olive eggs. I can set them before I leave and only have 10 days to wait when I get back. I also bought a cabinet incubator that seems to do a better job than the styrofoam one. I am having a really good time. I sent 2 chickens to my grandkids in vernal today. A sweet turkin and a sweet bard rock. They have chicks but nothing that lays so they are excited to get hens that lay eggs.

Red, I'm glad you found your truck, but I'm so sorry about the punk who did it. I hope insurance will cover a bunch of the cost, if not all of it.

I like the idea of those of us who CAN have a rooster specialize in a different area, but realistically, we're all trading back and forth, so there's going to be quite a bit of overlap.

I need to build a wire enclosure type thing to keep my three chicks separate, but still visible to the group. If I wasn't a cheapskate, I'd just go buy one of those wire dog crates from KSL.

Sundance, somebody has the hatchin' bug lol! So glad you are having a good time, chickens are the bestest :) I bet your eggs are done....the same ones due to hatch this weekend right? You could peek in one and see. But first take one egg out and tap it with your fingernail...you can feel it move inside, or listen for tapping back. If you have to open one, tap a hole in the big end and work your way up the side that the air sac runs up. Look for a beak.....or poke the chick a little with your fingertip enough to see if there is movement......If you have had this much lapse and no more pips I would check one. But listen first......you can feel it move inside if you tap the shell.

Sphinx, I got my wire dog crate thing a ma jig at either Ross or TJ maxx, I cannot remember which, but they were so much cheaper!! I think I paid $35 for mine, way worth it, because it collapses to get through doorways and whatnot. I just leave it out there in the run now all the time with a board over the top for shade, and some of the younger ones still like to go back in there and sit in the shade. Newbies will be going out in a couple weeks.
My DH built one with leftover 2 x 4's.....you just make a rectangle frame with the wood for each wall and staple chicken wire over, nail them all together in a cube. Then on the top one you use hinges so it opens and shuts. It was dirt cheap to make and works great. I still prefer the collapsible one though, it is easy to put away. Just an idea for ya :

I had a wire crate but the problem the chicks go right through it. I build a big box 8 ft long 4 ft wide divided it in half have a hen with chicks in each half its 2 ft high, Put hardware wire on it because the chicks go through the chicken wire. Took the new chicks out of the incubator today, since there is only 3 at the moment put them in a reptile aguarium in my living room so I could watch them. Instant kitty TV. The kittens are fascinated Chicks are fascinated they keep pecking the glass. They are so tiny I put a waterer in it filled with marbles so they don't drown. They are loving the heat lamp havn't explored it yet. Not sure how long my asthma will let me keep them in the house before they have to go out to the brooder. That is something else we need a geneticist to come up with besides the crowless rooster, A hypoallergenic chicken
