Utah!

You better stay down so you don't end up back in the hospital girl!!

Rattlesnake vaccinations? Who would have thought! You know about all kinds of shots, you are the one to ask about this stuff. I hope I never need to though :p

Cynthia - I have always felt that Golden Retrievers are born with angel wings. We just can't see them. I think that they are gold all of the way through to their sweet, kind, golden hearts.

Speaking of a heart of gold, Sundance - you are wonderful to bring home a dog with a broken leg to take care of. I'm sure he will heal that much faster having someone to share healing time with. I have watched you take care of so many chickens and animals on this forum and I think you are marvelous. Someday I want to be just like you.

After one of our dogs got bit by a scorpion while camping, we learned about symptoms for that vs. rattlesnake. My dogs have gotten the rattlesnake vaccination ever since. It is like west nile and requires two shots over 30 days to get it started, but then is an annual single shot afterwards. Not many clinics carry it as it is expensive and has a short shelf life. Cottonwood Animal Hospital keeps it in stock.

That is interesting you mention snakes sundance, it did enter my mind while we were up there. I haven't ever seen a rattle snake up there, but we did pick up a tarantula one day and take it into camp with us to show everyone in camp that we had made friends with.
I used to stay up that canyon for a couple of weeks at a time in our motor home. Was not a long drive right down to our house, and when school started, would take Austin straight to school.
We did see racoon's, mean little stinks.
My son was walking around the camp area one morning, came running back, and said, mom! I heard something, went to look, saw something big run off, then saw a dead rabbit. We were told later that a mountain lion had been around the area..and be glad that the eating was good, because they don't like leaving their meals when they are real hungry. Nice.

We take our chances when we camp out for sure.
I was wearing those skimpy shoes..oooh, snakes! I swiped a big spider off of Scott. He hates spiders.

On the other hand, saw a couple of really pretty busy tailed grey squirrels.

Lisa, I was looking into it, and lavender ameraucanas aren't considered an official variation of ameraucana yet. So, I think they're technically still considered a project. Honestly, if mine laid a perfectly blue egg, I would've been happy to trade- I have three other potential blue egg layers (well, the legbar is pretty guaranteed), and I love green eggs. I still have the other lavender, so if I start getting gorgeous blue eggs, I'll try to figure out who that is and swap ya.

Oh, that's sweet of you, Sundance. What kind of dog is he? I bet you're seeing the snakebites because of the fires driving everything out of their natural places.

Cynthia, that's really scary that your son may have interrupted a mountain lion. YIKES!

We officially bought two cows today. When we mentioned we may do it, we had enough people express interest that we got two. One is still needing to be bottlefed for a couple weeks. I think the kids will like it. The weaned one had really cute hearts on his hide.

And his forehead:

Cows with hearts?! How cute is that. I swear I want one of every animal I see.... Oh Sphinx that is sweet of you to offer to do that. You do not need to do that though, sheesh, I am waiting on a few more potential blue layers too so will see. There has got to be one in there! This last one was OK< but not like the ones i keep seeing pictures of that make me go nuts and buy ameraucanas by the handful haha! I truly wish the hen would lay the same color as the egg she hatched from. That would be so much easier!

Just love the hearts on that cow. How can you pass that up? It is like a sign....Very very CUTE! oh speaking of signs, this is so funny...we were in CAL ranch. The BR , a few of them, were in with the SLW. I moved the few of them to the right bin....as we walked off I hear a chirping, loud...I turn around and a BR is sitting on the edge of the tub, cheeping at me..it was so funny my daughter says Oh my GOSH he is talking to you! As if to say "Hey, you forgetting somebody here?" it was pretty cute. What it was really trying to do was hop back in with the SLW. They were getting pretty big and able to hop around pretty good. I hope none got loose in the store :) I resisted, even with the sign....MAN I am getting good!

So jealous of all your eggs! They are beautiful. Wish my girls would start laying again. One egg a day is just not cutting it!

Cynthia your pictures were so fun to look at. I have now decided I will never live long enough to have all the dogs or chickens I want. I have always wanted a Golden Retriever. What a fun day you had.

Sundancen I agree with Happy. You are marvelous with your love and care of animals. Love your little sizzles!

Sphinx I really think I would get attached to a calf with little hearts on it! You better get another one just in case.:D seriously that is the coolest thing to have a cow with hearts. I love it. I think she is special. ;) I think you will get attached. Have I already said that? Just sayin.

Here is my sweet little silkie roo that needs to find a new home. I think he started crowing this morning because the sounds coming from the coop sure didn't sound like the fork lift from next door at 6:30am! At about 12 weeks, I don't think it was any of the girls doing their celebratory songs either. So once again, looking for a good home for him. Any takers? I didn't ever get an answer about Wheeler Farm so I am hoping someone out there might want him for something other than freezer camp.
