Utah!

Okay.. sorry if I drive you nuts with pics...

Here are the Leghorn EE's I got from Cynthia... (minus the one that died=(... And speaking of... Moriahquilts... those chicks I got from you... looking like there's a pretty good chance there are at least 4 pullets in that group!!

Oh, and Lisa.... I would take that black amer roo from you, but the crowing is a problem... I PM'd birdguy about it, if he doesn't end up wanting it, I could get it from him in 4-6 weeks when the expansion at my mom's place is done=)

This is the roo, all white, with muffs and beard, pea comb, pale legs (almost pink)

The pullet is the big one in the middle, there She has muffs/beard, slate legs, pea comb, a few black spots here and there, and not much of a tail... feather sexing did NOT apply with these two, the roo feathered much faster than the pullet... the others are the Leghorn EE's from Moriah=). Oh, and behind there you can see one of the Delaware pullets and the wheaten roos, I moved them in with the big girls today as the grow-out pen is getting crowded!!

This is the 2 of them side by side, you can see the pullets nice muffs/beard and slate legs here, the cockerel's back facing, he almost meets the standard for a white amer, except for those legs=)

so i guess the new plan is i am building a new coop and not useing the shed. lisa a mulberry tree would be smart i think, i guess the fruit is high in protein so it will feed your chickens a lot and it will provide good shade for the warm part of the year. another option would be a apple tree. you could even grow grapes if your run wire is strong. or raspberry's would be good, or blackberrys

Daloorashens, I love those. I may really really want one of those someday!! :p I am looking for a white ameraucana, maybe will hatch some next spring, but those would be fun too. Which roo are you going to put those with? The wheatens maybe? That would make some randomly colored very cute babies I am sure! Plotting....

Birdman, great ideas, I am exciting to plant some fun stuff now!

Brad, why aren't you using the shed? The mulberry tree is a great idea. I love the idea.

Delarooshens, I'm glad your boy is feeling better. It's so tough to have a sick baby.

Love the leghorn/EE mixes. Those really did take the best of each breed. They are so pretty.

because this new location is much better and plus i do like the dirt floors lol. my parents are willing to pay for it and they will even build it but i do not feel right about that. i am under way to much stress right now, its hard.

Wow! I'm feeling really hopeful now that my Leghorn/EE is a girl. For those of you who also have them - are yours snowy white? Because mine is a little more of an off-white. And in addition to the black polka dots, she's got a bunch of very tine black flecks coming in on her feathers.

Birdman, sorry you're feeling so stressed.

So, I don't know what's the matter with me. But I went and got a friend for the turkey. He approves. Hope it's a girl.

Aw the turkey love affair. How cute is that, he seems to be admiring her!

I got pics :) Finally no chickens in the garage. Well mostly. The polish is a teeny bantam and is going out in the day but in the garage at night for a bit, because she can go with under the bottom rails of the run and escape still (it sits on pavers because the irrigation out here can make the yard pretty wet. She is so so small, just a little teensy miniature version of my others.

My polish to compare with Sasha's for gender determination.... "Cosmo"

Its been awhile since ive been on here. Just wanted to say yay. We got are first egg ever.

Here it is. The kids went out to check on the chickens and there it was. Not sure who layed it though.

Also is this SLW a boy? Im sure the Amerucona is a girl.

How old is that SLW? If it is 4 mos plus it could be a girl.....but if it is younger I would think boy. It looks younger? Mine had big red wattles like that too, but mostly at laying age, before that it was not that red. That egg is nice! A little darker reddish brown, so I would guess from a red chicken....don't you have a GSL? Probably that one. They lay awfully early. My first one laid at 17 wks and my neighbors was 16 wks. My 2nd one laid just shy of 18 wks! BO's are kind of golden brown too..hard to tell from the pic .
Congrats! Isn't that first egg the best thing ever? I am so happy for you, glad you are sharing with us. What did your kids think? They will have to go spy and have fun figuring out who is doing it :)

Kidasoto, congrats on the egg!!! I'd lean towards that SLW being a boy, but I don't want to commit without a good side shot and knowing age.

Brad, your reasoning is sound for your coop decision.

Lisa, love your birds. That polish is so cute. No idea on gender though.

Red, I love that turkey picture. He sure does seem to really like the other turkey. Are you going to eventually eat them, or are they pets?
