Utah!

Thanks all for the help. If its a boy we warned the kids that he would become dinner since we cant have roosters. Which means i could get 1 more chicken. I really still want a sizzle or a silkie i think.

Cynthia, I forgot to comment on how unusually colored a couple of those chicks are. It's really neat. I'm excited to see them feather out too. I am also interested to see how those leghorn/ee mixes turn out. If they lay the colorful eggs, but in mass quantities, that'd be really neat.

I think it'd be fun to try homemade cheese.

Madchicken, that is also a handsome boy. Rebecca's stock is gorgeous. I hatched 5/7 eggs from her, but of the five that hatched, FOUR were boys. Awesome.

Sasha, I don't know a lot about sexing polish, but yeah, that one looks awfully suspicious.

Sundance, so I gave this lavender the shots this morning. She didn't fight it like Thing 2 did, so I'm worried that maybe I did it wrong. I didn't notice any liquid dripping out, so I *think* it made it inside. She was more thickly feathered, so it made it tougher. Other than her not fighting the painkiller at all, that one went smoothly. I then tried to give her the liquids (cuz why not?), and I did have some of that drip out, so I repositioned, and she fought that a tiny bit, then shot the rest in. So now we wait. I'm hoping I did it right and I see a dramatic improvement in a few hours.

I sure hope your lav is ok Sphinx. It is so awful seeing injured chickens, and having to make decisions about what to do, that is one thing I could do without. That and rehoming roosters we fall in love with.

Sasha--thanks for the pics. I am definitely going to hang on to this one and still hope its a girl now. I do worry about that one of yours. Your cuckoo is pretty light, I bet that one is a girl. I am guessing you have 1 girl 1 boy and 1 that could go either way? Hopefully the right way. Just a guess. Are yours teensy weensie too? I cannot believe how tiny this "Cosmo" is. She is more like a sparrow or robin, not a chicken. Her poof is coming in pretty round and nice, Elvis' is still all over the place, it is just too funny. It goes everywhich direction, it kind of matches her goofy demeanor and makes her seem even more ridiculous. She is turning red just a little bit around her mouth, I noticed last night. Not a lot yet, but you can see a change starting. Frisco has had red wattles for a while, but no much interest in the nests yet. I am excited to see what kind of eggs they lay. Or how they act when they lay. Because they are so wound up and ditzy already, I wonder what level of anxiety/excitement we will see when they start worrying about laying haha :) I hope mine stay nice, I really really like them.

Yay!! and good luck!!

Really loving all the pics!!

Birdguy, looks like your little piggies are staying home for now, haha (sorry but when you have a 14-month old that loves 'this little piggy", you just can't help it!!) And BTW, they are SOOO cute!!! I think I need to bring my kiddos over to see them=)

Wow, cynthia, your EE looks so different from mine, I'm just a big nerd, but the genetics of it all fascinates me!!

Bird-Man,. I hear ya on wanting a dirt floor, that's what I prefer also, I'm thinking about planting a grapevine on the wire of mine... Raspberries would also be cool, but they spread so easy, I think that might drive me crazy=) Not sure if a mulberry bush would live here, I need to look into that, because that would be very cool...

I'm off to meet Kimmie with the Exchequer.
I did something I never thought I would do any time soon, but they are close, and it was cheaper than buying eggs..yep..ordered me some cute little Polish..now I will leave you to guess what color I ordered. A different color I have seen around on here, ever..but it wouldn't seem like a different color. Make sense? Ship date..Aug. 15th. I'm excited. I am keeping my black baby I hatched, and one is going to a friend. But, I want another one, especially this color!

See ya! Maybe I should take my camera and get a picture or two of us. If she doesn't mind. :)

Good luck, Red!!!!!! You can use me as a reference too!

Cynthia, no idea on what color polish you got. Awesome that you're taking the "easy" way and getting chicks. Have fun meeting in kimmie.
