Sundance, I'm glad you're back. I was starting to get very worried since you didn't return my phone call or text. I was || this close to start calling hospitals.

I am so sorry I didn't back with you. Looked everywhere for my phone thought it was gone forever. Found it in my car, Need to give you hubbys phone.
Did everyone see the Mille fleurs on KSL wish I could get them but can't go. As soon as it warms up a bit hubby and I are going on an animal rescue The neighbors know I'm the local animal activeist and have asked us ti look into this. I'll divulge more details when I;m done

Oh man! Close call with the Cooper hawk, Knew it would give it a try sooner or later. And we did luck out. DH was just letting our little dog outside to go potty. He says, all of a sudden there is the hawk coming low from our out fence into the area where the chickens were. He says he turns when he see him, and goes up over the back fence into the neighbors yard. Oooh, that makes me mad. There is no way to get rid of this hawk. Although, it does just sit in that tree at times, if I could get someone down here that is a really good shot with a dart gun! Of course, they could take him away, and he would probably be right back. I am having so much fun with the eggs that are coming along now, I would be so mad if he got one of my new layers, or any of them. My little Swedish Flower is one of the smaller ones out there..she would be easy pickins.

Cynthia, have you tried putting a fake owl out in the yard somewhere? I hear that's supposed to work pretty well. IFA may have some.

animal rescue was a false alarm. It concerned
turkeys but they are fine have shelter and being fed. They are along a popular walking path here in Tville and the walers could not see the shelter but it was there and adequate.

I'm a little sad. I learned today that my two HUGE pine trees are going to be cut down this spring. They're 50+ years old and very, very tall. The city is going to put in curb/gutter and sidewalk, and my trees are right in the path.

What will make it even sadder is that it'll happen in the spring. I bet I'll have a whole mess of baby birds that are displaced. Ugh.

I hate it when the city comes through and butchers the trees like that. Especially when they're older. I love huge, old trees.

Sundance, I'm glad to hear that the turkeys were okay! And thank goodness there are people who are vigilant about animals and the conditions they're being kept in.

So I've been wanting to get a couple of barn cats to help control the mice that have moved in... Finally found a couple that were raised on a little farm around chickens etc and whose mother was supposedly a good mouser... We got them on Saturday and they are already catching mice!! I witnessed a successful hunt tonight while I was feeding the birds..

As I was leaving, I couldn't find the littlest one until....
