Budgerigars! My cousins used to have one that was all white. Her name was Q-tip <3 She was such a sweetheart. So the seventh one is of lovebirds? They're the only ones I haven't seen before. I've seen the rest on sites like Wikipedia........

Yeah, I'm a nerd. And I'm proud of it.

Birdman, sounds like a plan. I know the cockatoos can be quite noisy. A friend of ours had two of them, and one would shout at you for half an hour if you didn't say hi to him when you walked into the house

I have only ever seen a couple of pictures of miligolds, and I understand that their coloration can vary, since they're a cross. Right? That makes me sad about the young macaw, though. I saw a baby one like that a while ago on KSL. It made me wish so bad that I had the resources to care for one. If I had my way, I'd have a 1,000 acre piece of land with all the animals I want to bring home with me. I get it from my mom

It's very hard to say no to some animals, especially if they're in dire circumstances. I can't go into an animal shelter without crying, go figure.

As it is, though, I reeeeeally want a couple of ex-battery hens. I'm hoping to get them next year (I know, I know. Broken record here, sorry folks) Like I said, I love animals. It upsets me when people don't take good care of them.

I'm sorry. Getting off my soap box. Time for bed. I start my new job in the morning! Yay!

it was a young conure that was bought as a gift. yeah a miligold is a cross of a military macaw and a blue and gold macaw. you do not see many of them. they are one of the more rare macaw crosses :) and yeah they can look very different.

Brad, you and red made me do it..had to look them up, here is a picture of both mcaws'..wow...pretty!

Pretty bird pictures!

Worrisome news this morning. I think I have some chickens getting colds....I noticed a couple sneezing yesterday and my Polish Elvis has a hoarse voice. I gave them the vitamins and denegard, but I am still worried, where there are more than a few I do not have the means to isolate them...hope they make it through! The wet cold weather has left my polish's crests wet quite a bit, even though they are in a covered run and coop, they like to sit on the stray bales on the side and have gotten wet, I do not know if that has contributed...but all four of my polish seem to have this cold and 4 others. Not good!

I have a question about genetics. If I have a rooster that hatched from an Olive egg and breed him to a blue egg layer, what color will the babies lay? Blue brown or Olive? What would happen if he was bred to a brown egg layer brown or olive? Does anyone have any idea. The rooster I want to keep if the decrow works is out of an olive egg so I wonder what I will get. He is so prettyn He is black with gold feathers on back and neck. He is beautiful. and sweet so far but I wanted to know more about egg color genetics to see if it was practical to keep him

You will get green or blue assuming that your blue egg layer isn't hiding brown. He carries one copy of brown and one copy of blue so he will pass on either one of those. If he passes on brown, the brown will combine with your blue egg layers color creating green to possibly olive if the brown is "painted" like a marans egg. If he passes on only the blue, you will get a shade of blue, possibly with a bit of greenish tint depending on the genetics of your hen. If you breed him to a brown, you will get brown or green. The shade of green depends on if you get a coated brown egg gene (like a marans) or a plain brown egg gene. Same goes for the shade of brown in that cross. Hope that helps

Diana, themadchicken, pictures for you. Only one of Cotton..little stink. lol...

Here is the frizzle boy Diana. Love that coloring!

Told you..gorgeous! Going to be very handsome all grown up.

And here's Cotton, oh, if you could only "hear" pictures. She was growling at me. :)
I had taken her out while I was getting pictures of the Frizzle. While I tried to catch
him, she came running over with those wings spread out just a cussin me. Wow,
going to be very protective. I can pick my blue splash up, she puffs up when I go
near her, but she doesn't make the sound that Cotton makes. I get a kick out of her.
LOL I don't know why, but the slikies eyes get the feathers around
them sticky when they go broody. I had to trim my blue Splashs's, and I think I will
trim Cotton..they keep there eyes closed alot while sitting. Maybe that's why. Let
me know themadchicken, I won't if you don'twant me to. Will watch for a post today.
If nothing, by tonight, I will trim just a bit.

Beautiful Silkies Cynthia! Any pips yet?

Sundancen looking forward to hearing about how decrowing your roo went.

Lisa sorry about your Silkie eggs. Same thing happened to me. I have three in lockdown so hoping for all three to make it. Sad to hear about the sickness in your flock too. I'm afraid that will be the case for many of us with colder weather settling in.

I received my Polish hatching eggs yesterday so they will be going into my other incubator. :)

so if anyone hatches some cream legbars please let me know because i want to add one to my flock

the-bird-man. Cream Legbar eggs are great. Nice large yolk to egg white ratio.

After this falls' molt my main hen jumped in egg size from 60 grams to 70 grams too. Still, you can only drink so much egg-nog durring the Holiday season so despite my resolution to not do any more haching untill spring, I went ahead and put some Cream Legbar Eggs in the incubator last week. I will spending time in Price and Spanish Fork right before Christmas(and probablly make a trip up to the Ogden area too). If you or anyone else wants to get some Cream Legbar chicks send me a PM.
