2 eggs hatched! 1 RIR/SILKIE. 1......well not to sure. if it was from my barred or my SLW then its a male. I think it came from me EE mutt. Notice the dark legs. I just grabbed an egg and stuffed under her to make her happy 21 days ago. Last egg is a silkie egg but has not done anything. It had veins last week but might have died due to the cold. the little red one does have 5 toes

Brad, I hate to say it because I realize how callous it may make me sound, but yes. I could still eat them, though at this point I'm going to need to be pretty hungry to do so. They have been such a blast to have around.

does not make you sound callous at all. you did get them to eat and with those breeds its not like you can breed them.

Red I LOVE your videos and pictures. That turkey in the trash can cracks me up. They make the cutest whistling sounds too, I can totally see why you love them so much.And I LOVE Flekka especially , she is gorgeous! Wow! I really really want to get some fertile eggs from her if/when you have them available.

So today, they had some kid at one of the high schools threaten to shoot people and himself. on the news this morning. I swear this time of year makes sad people, even sadder, and do super sad things. Ugh, I hope no more, it breaks my heart for the people that are hurting so much they do these things. I am glad nobody got hurt this time!

Yay for all the cooking eggs!! Too exciting!!

Had to pull most of the eggs from my Amer pen out of the bator last night... all were not fertile, there are a couple ?? still, but the ones from my Marans pen are all doing GREAT... Although, no actual Marans eggs, these will be OE chicks, but still, at least HE is king of his coop, haha... BUT, my Amer cockerels are now full-on crowing, so I'm hopeful that means we'll see improvement in fertilization... I'll try setting a few more when this batch goes into lockdown=)

Lisa I hope your sweet little grand baby got here safely and mom and baby are doing well. You have had some crazy stuff going on where you are. Your husband's work and now the high school. I'm with you on how heartbreaking it is to see people so disperate from the pain that they feel in their lives.

I am so wildly jealous of you incubators. I'm dying to set some of my legbar eggs, but trying to resist the urge. Maybe I'll save her eggs for a week and do it anyway.

Lisa, glad your dh wasn't hurt at all in that standoff. I heard about it on the news and it sounded so scary.

I'm beginning to think that Fonzi, my BCM/GLW cockerel isn't a cockerel. Lisa said she thought it was a pullet, and I laughed, but now I'm not so sure. 16 weeks tomorrow:

Still only 2 chicks this morning. Apricot allready has them out of the nest and is showing them how to eat and drink. But she seems to be having a problem pooping.
