Confession: I collected a legbar egg yesterday and I didn't put it in the fridge. I suspect I'm about to give in and will start incubating as soon as I have 5 or 6.

It was pretty crazy at the schools around here yesterday. There was rumors of bombs at the high school and junior high, so there was a huge police presence at both places. My kids reported that at least 30% of the kids were absent. I heard quite a few people kept their kids home because they were scared.

Sundance, my deadbeat Marans hasn't laid anything for two weeks now. Maybe I'll just give you the legbars I hatch. Then I get to hatch, but don't have to have velociraptors in my front room (Lisa, I literally LOL'd when you said that). Are you trying to ship adult birds or chicks? I have no idea what kind of box would be used, though I would assume it'd have air holes and be fairly large.

Blujems, sorry that you had so many wheaten eggs not develop. Are you sure they're actually infertile, and simply not developing? I've seen eggs from a hen whose eggs always have that bullseye not develop.

Bluejems... I've seen the same thing in the eggs from my Amer pen... I'm pretty confident my cockerels are just too young and not flirting with the ladies enough.. especially the ones that are laying... they are about a year old and more assertive, I think those roos are just not being boss roos yet... I'm going to try setting some more when these go into lockdown...

Hi Utahans! Chiko's back. I've been busy and forgot my BYC password How have you all been? Anybody having problems in the areas getting snow? My hens are great. Doing good in the winter and are nice and cozy. Whoever it was that wanted pictures of my Buff White Laced, Polish Pullet, I've got some good ones of her lacing Also some of my hens and one...that I have no clue what he/she is. ENJOY

This is a mixed RIR/Wyandotte chick. It was born in the middle of May, I say rooster, but others, like Cynthia say hen! It doesn't crow, or lay. and it's 7-8 months old. What is it, any ideas? and why hasn't it done anything!? It's the big white one.

I had a really great day. I sold a couple of roosters this morning. I took one of my chickens to the vet as I thought her leg was broken. Looks like she tore her ACL and so now she is in a cast. I hope I can get some pictures. she still can't walk so the vet kept her and put her in a sling so her legs are dangling. Then I went over and made ginger bred cookies with my grandsons. I let them open their presents. I got them some I pads. They went crazy the were so excited. Of course they said. Nana you always give the best presents. they hugged me until I thought my ribs would break. I cooled home made chicken soup for us to eat for lunch. I so enjoy my grandsons. They really make me laugh. They insist that I take them to the Movies tomorrow so we're going to have lunch then go pick up the chicken then go to the movies. Merry christmas everyone

Chiko, im thinking that Big white one is a rooster. The hackle is just to rooster. Picture 5 and 6 see how it curls in instead of laying flat. It has the same look as my avatar. Your polish is so pretty. i think i might get one this spring along with a FBCM.

Hector, I agree. That white one looks like a boy. The hackles and tail feathers look rooish to me. I could be wrong, though. I've had an awesome knack for guessing wrong lately.

Hector, that white one is really looking like a roo now. It was about a month and a half ago I though girl, but look at that neck feathering! Pretty bird!

You know that I love the picture of Fanny. She looks really good. And, you also know, I love your little partridge cochin..soo cute.

Lisa, congrats on the grand daughter. They are so precious the first days. I dont know if this is true but a very wise women (my mom) told me the reason newborns cant talk is because they would be able to tell you about heaven. I dont know if its true but if you look into their eyes i really think they are hiding something, why else would they smile and laugh when know one is looking at them.
