Utah!

Gary, is she puffing up like this when she does it? My EE mix, is acting weird! She sounds/acts like she is going broody. I hope not. When I go in, it sounds like a raptor yelling at me! Everytime, she's on the nest I get cussed out. I moved her off of the nest last evening onto a roost. She had laid an egg, sat on it the whole time we were gone for our party. When I put her on the post, this is what she did. I had the camera with me..took a shot at grumpy. Maybe because she was asleep? I am guessing your mama hen is cussing you out for being near her babies. They sure can make funny noises.

She would puff right up and make a cussing me out sound. Leghorns, broody? Ameraucanas
once in a while, but she just started laying! She did lay again today, and didn't stay on
the nest, thank goodness..but she is clucking when she walks around. I'm just waiting.
She dosent puff up she actually stretches her neck out and flaps her wings when she dose it. She looks just like my roosters except they flap their wings after they finish the crow.

Merry Christmas all!

Cynthia, I love that picture of your EE. She totally reminds me of the Buddha (with no disrespect intended)

My chickens aren't too hot on the snow, either, but I have a few that will venture out and explore. Here's a video I took after that last big snowstorm we got in November.

Merry christmas all. What a day we had yesterday. I took my grandkids to the movies and lunch to keep them out of parents hair. Quite a job wrangling 9 kids. We were suppose to go to hotel Transylvania but it wasn't there so we went to the hobbit. It drug a bit at first and of course the brothers started fighting. I sat on them in the theater to make them stop. I thought the lady sitting on the other side would die laughing. She said she liked my techniqueIt wasn't snowing when we went into the movie but we were surprised when we cam out and had a couple inches and still snowing hard. We then took them all to red robin for lunch and I gave all the kids that I hadn't seen their present AKA IPAD They went nuts, Boy then I had leverage. If you don't behave I'll take the present back. Worked a little but they know me to well. My friend is bringing her grandaughter over to see the chickens and gather eggs. They hate the snow so are all pretty much staying in the coop. I'm not doing too much today just hanging out here, Have a great day everyone.

Another funny story. My friend is a veterinarian. When her techs went to open her clinic yesterday morning there was a large box with holes punched in it on the porch. This is not uncommon as there are many people whose animals are sick or old that do that to her. She has a camera on her porch so she usually turns the animals over to the pound and the film of who dumped it to the police as animal abandonment is a felony. The tech picked up the box took it in and opened the top, Huge surprise. There was a huge owl looking back at her. It had apparently been hit by a cat and broke its wing. Carolyn went to the clinic put some huge protective gauntlets on and pulled the owl out. She anasethised the bird and xrayed and set its wing. She then called me to see if I knew of an owl rescue as DWR just puts animals like that to sleep. I was wrangling 9 of my grandkids at the movies so I didn't answer my phone. Of course everything was closed when the clinic called around to the owl is in a cage at the clinic. Carolyn went and bought a few mice for it to eat until she can find someone to take it. If I can I'll get some pictures and post it. She say my chicken is doing ok but she is still in the sling and she isn't sure if she will walk again or not. She said she won't feed her to the owl. You never know what will turn up at the clinic. One day there was a pony tied to the fence. It was raining hard so she brought in the clinic and put it in the dog kennels. She had a pig dumped off one time and a baby goat.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

We had a long night... baby has a cold and was up at midnight just as we finished everything, finally got him back down almost an hour later and then at 2:30 the 4 yr old was up terribly croupy (he was totally fine going to bed), put him in the shower, then took him outside to breathe some cold air, then slathered his chest with vicks and he went back down about 3:30, then he and the 7yr old were up at 6am for presents, they stayed in bed with us until 7:15 and they were jumping out of their skins.... ugh... They are sooo cute and I really enjoy them, but yikes am I tired now!!

BUT, cute pics and Cynthia, I think it would be funny if your EE went broody, haha, sorry I just have to laugh...

Hector, I vote roo.. sometimes they are just late bloomers, haha

Well, off to take a nap!

Sundance, I love your method of making the kids get along at the theater

And WOW about the owl! I'm glad she could set its wing. I get so sad when I see BoP on the side of the road because a car hit them - regardless of them being a threat to chickens. By chance, does your vet friend have her clinic in West Jordan? The vet that we really like has her clinic there (Brookside) and they handle farm animals as well as domestic pets. They are wonderful people.

Dalooras, get some sleep, girl! It's tough when someone is sick and needs care, but I'm glad you and yours are getting along okay.

Nice present! My mom has a Kindle and just loves it. They're handy little things, for sure.

I got random things that I am stupid silly excited over. Like my mom got me a laundry organizer and hangars. I'm looking forward to getting it all set up. And we had a bag of gerbil and hamster grains left under our tree from "Big Hen"

It's for the bawk bawks, of course.

Merry Christmas guys!

Red, cute video :), congrats on all the fun presents to everyone, and Daloorashens I hope you get rested up...and sick babies feel better soon, injured owls and chickens heal fast, and everybody's house is still standing after the crazy morning.

Santa brought my girls some Happy Hen dried mealies. They are pretty excited. BUT Somebody got outta control and I have one that got chewed on the hind end and bled a little bit and so they are in trouble with me now. I had to isolate my Wheaten Am that got bit, she is gorgeous and lays such pretty eggs, if she starts getting terrorized the culprit is OUTTA here, I am not messing around. It is just so cold it is hard to watch them long enough to see who is doing it. It is only 20 right now here, lots of fog today!

Other than the naughtiness in the coop we have been blessed to have a very nice Christmas day. But I am really really really glad to have it here and done with. I bet alot of other exhausted Moms out there are breathing a collective sigh of relief to be done shopping, wrapping, cooking, and cleaning :) Yay for Christmas, I love it! But Yay even more for...AFTER Christmas hehe!

Enjoy the rest of your day friends! ;) :D I am grateful for each and every one of you on here, you make me smile every day!
