Yay, babies!!!! Pictures when they fluff out!

Madchicken (I think it was you?) those spots on the eggs wouldn't bother me at all; it seems to me that's just a weird bloom sprayer or something.

X2 :)
My oldest hen lays plaster eggs quite a bit and she seems fine. I kind of thought it might be her eating so much oyster shell, she loves that stuff. Just guessing.

Yay Jill!!!! Can't wait to see pics!!

I've "heard" that the calcium deposits happen more often in older hens eggs, but I haven't researched it at all.. either way, I'm pretty sure it's not a problem...

Boy, you all have been busy. That is what I get for not coming around for a few days. Hope you all had a great christmas.
My eggs went into lock down today. We candled yesterday and lost 3 FBCM eggs (quit) 3 of the ameraucana eggs are iffy.
I am hoping they all hatch but not holding my breath.

As of now the only eggs I am getting daily are from the FBCM. and the others have pretty much stopped. I get one occasionally but they are not regular. The chickens won't take a step outside because apparently the white stuff will melt them if they touch it. (Reminds me of the kids pretending that the carpet is Hot Lava) They all just stand with their heads poking out the door. But refuse to come out.

How's the snow treating everybody's chickens? I just measured various spots in my yard, the average is 11 inces :th I spent a while shoveling the snow out of my chicken pen yesterday, and cleaned it a bit more today, though the hens were scared to come out, since one came out 2 days ago and got stuck in the snow  I had to physically grab them and put them outside so they can get some exercise. Though they were confused looking at first, they happily walked around and ran around flapping their wings. It's getting dark and most of them are back in, except for one, My Black EE, she's wandering around, it's actually pretty funny. I took some pictures of them :)

The last picture is the snow on top of my coop. I put an egg in it so you can see how much snow that is!

Here's a pic of what I also did this morning, so I wouldn't be shin deep in snow, I dug a little pathway, haha, I'm really bored, forgive me

You have babies! I'm so happy for you. Can't wait for pictures.

Chico..you know who the cutest one is don't you? Fanny. She looks good. So does Syndie. :) We have more snow than you!!!

Hard to believe, but it's true. It's been snowing here for three days straight now. Sometimes softly, sometimes, hard! I shovel a path to the chicken coop every morning. My chickens are always happy to see me. They got their first taste of spinach today. I haven't done any fodder in a while. Miss Piggy's egg shells were getting too soft. I put out a lot of oyster shell the other day, and it was gone in no time..keeping up on the oyster shell better now.

Hello everyone and Happy Holidays! It's been a while since I've been one here but have a question. I have a six month old golden comet that started laying a few weeks back and lays one egg every day. I noticed tonight that she want to sleep in the nest box so I put her on the roost and she went right back to the box! Is she possibly broody?
