I decided I needed exercise so I went out and attempted to clean my coop. I had spilled the watered inside a couple of weeks ago and the shavings and manure were pack like bricks. I found a scraper we had and used it to scrape it. Worked good. Of course the door was open so the chickens could go out in the yard. we have over a foot of snow so most of them chose to stay and supervise the cleaning project. When I was bent over they kept getting on my back and pecking at my boots. It took me a lot longer than need be but I didn't have the heart to kick them out because they were so dang cute. One hen came and sat on my feet. I was watching her for a minute and she started to cackle, She had laid an egg on my foot, Besides the fact she had nice clean nest boxes, Silly girl, When I was done they were happily spreading the new shavings and clucking around. Took me about an hour but I really had a good time. Hubby kept checking on me and hauling the bags of used shavings away, When I was done I went outside and looked around. There was a huge hawk on the power pole in my yard, I couldn't leave the chickens out so the ones that were outside playing got put inside for their protection, That hawk is still out there biding his time. Lots of pigeons and doves around I'm sure he will get a meal. Just not my chickens
