Utah!

She did it! The little hen in the brooder that was doing the egg squat layed an egg. And i got another surprise when i got home. Someone was working overtime.
The one on the right is the Silkie's that's in the brooder the one on the left is a extra large. I get so excited when i get these giant eggs. Of coarse everyone argues who gets to eat it. Because we all know it will have at least 2 yolks. ( i got three one time in a giant)

.Here is a picture with a extra large/jumbo EE. These are my hands so you can see the comparison and I'm not a small man.

Wow big egg. I love it when I get those

Thanks Red and Sphinx I felt her and she isn't egg bound. She has perked up a little today so maybe she was just tired of being cold.

I got her to have a few pecks of oatmeal this morning and some vitamin water. I also cut her feathers around her eyes. I think she is just depressed I would be. She can't see a thing. Poor girl. I will just watch her again tomorrow and she how she does.

Red I hope your roo makes a great recovery. I'm so sorry you have to get rid of your turkeys. The naughties!

Nice eggs madchicken. Have I mentioned I haven't been getting eggs again.

Well at least I have hatching eggs though.

cyndiloowho you have some cute little ones. So glad your trip didn't involve a snow storm that freeway through there can be horrible! Pretty country though but then I love the state of Idaho!

Cynthia beautiful birds! I'm so excited to have a lavender!

Red so sorry to hear about your roo. I hope he does ok and heals up nice and strong so he can stand his ground on who evers coming after them. Better yet you see who is attacking them and get rid of them pronto.

So are all you sickies getting any better?! You know who you are.

So I need some help. My little cuckoo polish is not doing well. I have brought her in for the night. The last few days we have noticed that she has not been eating or drinking much and isn't interested in treats either. She just stands all fluffed up with wings hanging. I brought her in this afternoon and had her on my lap for about an hour. She doesn't have any signs of a cold. No mites. I thought maybe she was just cold. Anyway I'm keeping her in for the night. Will see what tomorrow brings. Any thoughts?

Hattie, I think your cuckoo needs some antibiotics. Give her denegard if you have it if not go to the feed store and get some Tylan or something. Also put some vitamins and electrilytes in her water, Good luck

Guess I won't be getting my chicks sent out until the 30th. It said availability on the 23rd..oh well, hoping the heat wave will hit by then.

And, my barred rock eggs that took 5 days to get here, and none became viable..no surprise...were supposed be resent yesterday. He's been answering my e-mails well, and said he would send them on Mon or Tues. No tracking number, maybe he just sent them..I asked him today..no answer yet. Should hear from him by tonight.

My olive eggs are dwindling. There is a wartery look on the bottom of most of the eggs. They were viable, had veining, but now, quite a few are no good. I've had the water at the top and knew, they were gonners. I've had that watery look on the bottom, and know..that they will need help out, because that doesn't usually go away, and if they pip with that there, they drown. So, I try and pip them the last part of the 20th day. Sure enough, goop! Thick goop. Some make it, some don't. Better than nothing when I get a couple to live that have that stuff in there. I'm pretty sure it's the shipping in the winter. Not a good thing. What am I thinking? Chicks! I'm thinking chicks that will grow up and give me an olive green egg! No fair, Lisa got her blue egg. :( lol...

CYnthia you soooo deserve that olive egg! Sorry to hear about these bad eggs.

I finally picked myself up off the floor to see what y'all are doing on here--been so sick. Last night, my fever broke, and I slept for the first time really in two weeks. Yay! I felt a bit better this morning, and the fever is gone. Finally. Now I feel like cleaning house again so that is a good sign! I HAVE to be on the mend, my life is spinning out of control. So behind on everything!

My 6 eggs that I set, all made it to lockdown, and all hatched last night, a day early. These really are sex linked, white spots on heads--boys. Just like the last batch- cuckoo marans mom, probably a wheaten am dad, but a chance of a FBCM dad--but they are all sex linked it is so cool. The older ones that are cuckoo--white spots---all getting big combs, chest bumping, big feet. I am sure they are all boys. The females from the older batch are all solid black, little petite combs, very much look girlie.

The ones that just hatched, 4 girls, 2 boys. Last batch is sold, with the exception of one boy and one girl. Anybody want some free cuckoo patterned cockerels? I have one two week old and 2 day old babies. Please if you do let me know. I do not want to sell them as straight run chicks on ksl, knowing that they are male now, and I have to get them out of here :)

Cynthia, these have a good chance of laying olive. If you want a female and we can figure a ride out pm me. Of the 4 girls, I am keeping one, and there is still an older one left (2 weeks) and 3 babies. Anybody want some girls? Also my 2 week old FBCM chicks are getting big, I have two left that I was going to keep-- plus one I am sure will be a roo. I am going to sell them though, I am really liking the little cuckoo mixes instead. If anybody wants the FBCM let me know before I put another ad up on ksl.

Madchicken-love that egg!

Red-think Icelandic eggs...my bator is empty..hint hint....

Lisa, welcome back to the land of the living! I can't believe how long you were sick. Congrats on your hatch! I'd love to see pictures.

Cynthia, I'm sorry that your barred rocks didn't work out. I hope the new batch comes. I'm thinking my chicks are probably going to be olive eggers- legbar mom and FBCM dad? Sounds like a recipe for olive.....

MadChicken, that's a huge egg! Congrats!

Would the chick you are talking about be a cuckoo color..that barred look? That would make up for my not having any barreds hatch. And an olive egg? How old is the older one? I would take that one..I have a little blue that is 2 months old...so sweet..my 5th generation gal. She is alone at night in the grow out coop. I put her out with Sweet Pea in the day, but Sweet Pea makes her nervous, she doesn't eat or drink that well while in there, but I need her to get used to being around the others. She is sooo sweet. She comes running to me now in the mornings. And at night when I come to get her to put her to bed. She needs a buddy.

Good news for me. I went to my disability hearing today and won. They denied me twice I guess that is normal, I had to hire an attorney but finally prevaled in the end.
Lisa I am glad you feel better. Its hard to be sick so long, I know I am an expert.
Red I'm sorry about your turkey I told our friend he couldn't get any more.
Cindy sorry about your olive eggs. I have 40 more serama eggs coming. Probably dumb to do in this cold weather.
I have a friend coming from Washington this weekend. She is picking up a kitten. I tried to talk her into bringing me some chicks but no way. She said she wasn't going listen to cheeping for the 13 hour drive. Oh well she said she would bring Serama Eggs to me. I guess better than nothing

Cynthia--the barreds are boys like the mama :( The solid ones are the girls, they are black. I have an older girl, that is 2 weeks old and feathering in really well, but not barred. I can send a pic if you want!

Sphinx, will go get the baby pics :)

Sundance, congrats on good news! That is a true blessing!
