You guys are so funny. I'd better go back and read the last few posts after posting this.

Orpingtons, eh.....well.....I sincerely love my gentle giant orps, but my girls are totally holding out on me!! Only 3 eggs among them last week when I have a waiting list for blue babies.....seriously? THREE??. Their neighbors in the pen next door are laying up a storm. Free loaders.

Oooh, lovely! Is that black one your roo? I have a buff Orp and never wanted buff, but she's such a character and I love her. I remember seeing a picture of a black Orp hen all puffed up and thought, "THAT one. I want that!" And then, as luck would have it, I ended up with a blue and black Wyandotte each, and they are super poofy. So I don't know that I could justify another Orp just yet. But hey, I can still drool

Oh my gosh, Lisa! Those babies are so cute! I'm glad they're okay. That's so cute that your hubby was all proud of himself for bringing them home for you. I found out my BF was going to give me chicks for Valentine's day, but decided against it when I told him I'd promised my mom no chicks until Easter. Aww.

Lisa they are soooo cute!!! So, Sundance sweetly gave us some button quail eggs and this is what I can expect? YIPEE!
I just put them in the incubator and that is as far as I've gotten.
I have an aquarium with a mesh lid but no idea what they even eat. Oh they are so teeny!
When I got chicks from Michelle we became so mesmerized by her beautiful horses that she had to come and remind us that, ummm it was like -20 degrees and we had day old chicks in the box outside. Good thing she was paying attention, we sure weren't.

It just did not dawn on him, poor guy I was kind of hard on him when I saw what I thought were dead babies. They were totally limp and motionless, Ugh! I was sooo relieved that they revived. They felt ice cold. They are both fine now. The IFA gave him some feed, I need to call in the morning and just double check he has the right stuff, but it is greenish powdery (like chicken mash) stuff. I wanted to call and make sure it is 'starter', or if there is such a thing for quail. I have no clue, does anybody know? I put it in a milk jug cap, same with their water, and they have both drank and eaten a few specks. I hope its a boy and a girl :D

Exactly I can blame it on you.

only one for the chickens so far. Although there is 3 coop/runs.

Ha ha, I have to tattle on you because it is pretty funny, Blujems has goats in her other chicken coop that the DH's phoenix' were in. lol I got a kick out of that. I think your DH is right, you ARE the boss over there. You two are so funny :gig

AH HAH! I can have male quail!!! I didn't even think of that! Horray!

Yes! No mad neighbors! Pretty exciting huh! That is where I was going with the jumbo coturnix quail, I wanted to put them out by the chickens, and have quail eggs, and quail babies, and have real live circle of life going on in my yard, because I am a big fat chicken and am scared to keep a rooster. Husband just only understood part of the plan :old But these are pretty cute, and I imagine they lay itty bitty eggs so now I think we will see how this goes. Circle of life in the house. In the tank. It will work! So long as my dog behaves....These are like little mini snacks in his eyes so he is going to be so wound up. Lots of walks this week. Cyndiloo, wouldn't it be (not so funny) if you get all girl quail? hee hee. Just teasin'. ;)

Here are the other two. It is like Mama and baby. I can't believe how much difference in size! Thank goodness for the sweet temperament of Delawares. So far it is working.
