Yes I emailed her, to make sure she sent me the right eggs. I have a feeling she did. I don't know that is was purposefully deceptive, but quite an exaggeration at the least (in my opinion) of egg color. I did not expect them to be bright like the pic, because you can see they are wet, and the lighting looks suspect. I thought at least they would be pale blue though or greenish blue. Brother.

I looked through them there are several that have small cracks, so it was a bust on this order I am afraid. Lots of moisture in the wrappers and all over in the container. Grrrr.

On a brighter note,( now that I feel like a ranted and feel guilty!) Cynthia, those EE babies are adorable. So glad you got so many to hatch, yay! Loving all the chipmunks. My chick order comes in just a few days too, that is another piece of good news

I think I may be done buying shipped eggs for a bit after this last batch. They are so expensive, and risky! Sorry for the rant. Now I got it all out, and time to be happy again

Lisa-- I would have ranted a bit, too. Those eggs don't look like they even come close to the blue spectrum. I'd kind of get it if they were a faded blue, maybe. Maybe. But they don't even look like that.

The shipped eggs are pretty risky. I've lost a couple of shipments to long post office waits or seriously bad packing this year already. one has to order 2-3 times as many as one wants in order to even hope to get enough. And that's assuming the eggs are actually what they are supposed to be!

To all you hatchers out there, my Brinsea Octagon Advance EX will be here in the morning and I have read that you may need to run a bit higher humidity at our elevation. Is this true and if so what would you all recommend?

Oh man! I am hoppin' mad! Well, as mad as I get anyway

I got my Wheaten Ameraucana eggs. This is the picture on the ad, advertising BLUE eggs.....

What do you guys think???? I think there is more dishonesty among the "blue egg sellers" than anywhere. I have yet to get an egg that looks like the picture, and most of the time they are outright green, no if's and or BUTTS about it. People need to be a little more honest about the egg color. I paid way too much this time, and they were not packaged so great either, all sweaty and wet and gross. Could not breathe at all, the plastic was sealed tight all the way around, it just irks me (a little). I mean seriously, look at the difference in the pictures. ?? Look at the blue on the postal wrap and the rings on the notebook, then look at the green sitting on the left....I can't see one egg in the sellers pic that matches these eggs at all.....they are grayish light greenish.

So I will not be keeping these chicks, will have to KSL them as green egg layers, because honestly I would not ever tell anybody they came from blue eggs. I seriously wonder if any will even hatch, they were so wet....will have to candle later and see what is going on inside.

Ewwwww it irks me. So blujems, you will not be wanting these. Nor me. Nor anybody looking for blue egg layers, dang it!

The second picture wasn't good enough to see color. Where did you find these eggs? If its ebay you can give feedback If byc yes you can give bad feedback. That is what you need to do,

Lisa, this is exactly what I was talking about trying to get the TRUE Olive color. All of the eggs that I got, were not the dark green. But then, look what hatched from one of those eggs and started laying a nice green egg..Red's chicken she got from me.. now, I have a chick from that one, crossing fingers that it is a girl. Yep, can't tell you how many eggs I bought thinking I was going to get Olive colored eggs, but they were usually a mint green, a dark mint green. Nothing like the picture they showed. The last two orders this year, were pretty good. Olive eggs in my house at last. Got five from the first hatch, and 8 from this last. Now, if I can just keep a girl in there somewhere. The blue one that I kept from the first hatch is already getting a big comb, with the three rows..isn't that a no no for a girl look? ugh! It looked like a girl when I decided on "her."
I saw that picture of those eggs when I was looking through some egg ads. I thought they looked like had been fixed up a bit. So, I would let her know how those eggs were all wet. That is not a good thing. Tell her they were weepy. That's the word we use when they are wet like that and want to report back to the seller. Good luck, hopefully she will refund!
Now, I'll stop. lol...

Eggs are difficult to photograph. Insist that the photo be taken in outdoor natural light with a familiar colored element like straw for comparison. Even so, in this example, the olive green egg is actually darker in person as is the wheaten ameraucana egg. My lighting wasn't exactly right. The sun has to be at the correct angle and height in the sky for the best accuracy. Even so, if you are looking for eggs of a particular shade ask for an outdoor photo. Sorry you got some bummer eggs. Been there done that.




Edited to add: A white egg in the mix is helpful as well for comparison.

anyone ever have a hen that likes to lay her egg after the sun has gone down? my spr likes to lay late in the evening when the sun has gone behind the mountain when its mostly dark out. it just seems odd to me. and it sure makes collecting eggs harder. she is a funny girl tho so its not a shock she is like this. red you would love this girl because how puffy she is.
