What a chore, Donna. I am sure the chickens will be happy campers

Of course you have to put the eggs int he incubator!!!! You did quite the moving around with your chickens. I hope the hurt one will make a speedy recovery and that the eye is still intact. Good luck on the Welsummers!!! I hope they will be okay!

Where did you get your Welsummer eggs from..state? I have some coming for the Easter Hatch A Long..

Looks like someone else decided to join the club today! One of the small ones is the one I got yesterday, the other two are from today.

I am so jealous of all the goats! I would love to get one but my husband is just not into the idea. I've been getting into cheesemaking lately and want the raw milk!

Ok, that big one sure looks a lot more like what I got from my australorp at first..a double yolk. I've gotten a couple from her, now her eggs are smaller. Hoping they get big again. Nice..you have eggs! Bout time ey?

Ut Chicken mom, congrats on beating the enemy! You are awesome, I hope the enemy stays gone for good!
So many other things since I checked in last, Blujems, love your new silkie pair, and that monster of yours is cute, (you guys should meet her, she is ADORABLE!) And congrats on the chick!, and hoping for a good hatch!
Donna, good luck on ALL those eggs! and I really hope you get a wellie to hatch for Joel.
Red, good luck on those eggs, and Diana good luck on your new project with that rooster...aravis yay!!! to your new eggs! and hi to everybody else I am missing!

Just got back from lovely Idaho, got to see my 28 yr old big boy, it was awesome to see him. I came home to one pip in my eggs (due Tue, but I swear they are always 1 day early....) and an email from McMurray that my chick box should be here tomorrow! So 30 chicks, in the mail, and 8 in the bator hatching, yay! Now I better go set up some brooders! I am so excited :) Cross fingers for my chicks guys, I will be so sad if there are dead ones in there, They shipped at 5 am on Saturday, that means likely hatched Friday, that is a long time with no food and water. Crossies :fl

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. Only problem with the new boobs is that they will be on an old body! But I'll deal with that. Maggie and Wanda appear to be happy but somewhat scared that they are all alone after being the big chicks in IFA. lol. Loved the rain today but really need to see some more warm days!

The warm days are coming. Slowly but surely! No rain tomorrow..I don't think? It's going to be in the 40's and close to 50 all this week. Getting there, then we will be too hot. Squirting our chickens down to cool them off.

Hi Lisa..glad you had a nice trip. You got to hug your son. Had to be great.

Your chicks will probably do pretty good with the warmer weather. Lots of chicks on the way! I just sold the EE's I didn't want to keep. It was hard to decide. I wanted two of Red's to watch for sure. They are so pretty. I kept a black OE of course, and another EE that is one of first kind I ever had..a partridge kind of color.

And, darn, I think that blue I kept out of the first OE hatch is a boy. Unless they can get big ol combs early on. The body still looks like a girls, but the attitude says boy too. It was that light one. It isn't light anymore..way dark blue, very pretty. Just have to wait and see for sure.

Awww I forgot my story....

We were headed to Idaho, and in between the two freeways, I saw out of the corner of my eye, this dog walking through the bushes. We turned around (in an "authorized personnel only" strip, shhh....) and went back, found the spot and saw the dog, and whistled. The dog came running along with another, cute littler one. They were soooo sweet! We called the numbers on the tags, and they were shelter numbers, and no answer. Soooo we went off the freeway trying to knock on doors and see if anybody recognized them. They were in the median area, i was so afraid they would get hit by a car if we left them, but was starting to worry we would not find their home. We did not know what to do with them, so we called the animal control and they said they would meet us and take them to the shelter and track the ID numbers down to figure out who adopted them or where they belonged. So we dropped them off and were soooo sad to say goodbye. Although the tan one got sick and threw up on my DH's coat, we still loved them after our brief encounter :) They did look them up on the computer and found out who they belonged to, they were a ways from home, so I was glad we picked them up.

The black ones tag said "Dottie", the other had no name on it. They are a cute little pair :love
1000

Pretty comfy, eh Dottie??
Good luck getting back home, sweet girls!
