In other exciting news, that baby that was in the shattered shell hatched last night! It appeared to be perfectly healthy AND a girl when I went to look at it last night. We also checked on the babies under the broody. Her sister had hatched (also seemed to be a girl, but it was awfully dark and it wasn't dry yet) and the third egg had a nice big hole in it. I'll bet it's hatched by now.

Lisa, my speckled sussex was an impulse buy. So was both of my polish. And my 8 babies are evidence of my lack of self control because I didn't sell them...

I'll bet it's hatched by now.

Sphinx, I am amazed that baby hatched! That is awesome!

I got my last eggs coming. (other than the showgirl eggs we are waiting on because they are broody). Cynthia, remember Cowgirl's eggs? They are awesome. Got an assortment coming of all kinds of purebreds, BBSAm's, OE's, BLRW ( oh they are gorgeous!), BBS marans, Wheaten Marans, Barnevelders, Welsummers, some others. Could be any of the listed breeds, so just a few of each, but it will be fun to see what I get. 30 eggs....just for fun, to hatch and sell, then I am done. Not planning to keep any, if anybody wants any of these breeds. Will likely not resist a puffy cheeker though if I get a cute one The EE's I bought from her last year are adorable. Then I will be done. Ya hear? Done

The first baby is one of the fastest, if not THE fastest from pip to zip I've ever seen. I checked the eggs just before we walked out the door for church. We only stayed for the first hour today, came home and the 2 eggs had pipped. an hour later, the one has already hatched!
I know the mom is Frizz, a red bantam cochin frizzle, and I believe the dad is Clay, bantam Wyandotte, judging from the comb.

my hubby will be going back down to West Valley City in the next day or two. He's napping now by let me ask him before I make a solid commitment for him. just wanted to let you know of the possibility. I'm sorry she lost a chick!
