Utah!

I have 5 pips from the cream legbar eggs in lockdown (I think there are 10 in there?)-- they are a full day early, which always makes me a twitch nervous. I was kind of counting on them being a little more on there time, since I have a bunch of eggs to put in the bator and I don't dare open it for fear of another bad hatch. I've decided watching Legbars hatch is like doing Christmas, since you know exactly what gender they are when they hatch! If I didn't love my BLRWs so much, I'd give them up for all autosexing breeds.

None of the Welsummers have pipped yet, so cross your fingers for Joel. All he has so far from previous hatches is one boy and one girl. Need a few more Welsummer girls to pop out!

Lilwanis, I will pm you :) Thanks for all that info on Houdans! That helps to know all of that. I hope ours make it and turn out short and fat and cute :) The chicks sure are cute. I am rooting for you, and your hatch to go well!

Crossing fingers for Joel! And you! Now, pictures this time or else :old It would be fun to show us the differences between the boys and girls on the legbars, I cannot remember when I visited you last year what to look for, it is always fun to learn these things :) I remember the teenagers you had outside, not sure if I got to see legbar chicks, I was freaking out on all the BLRW you had in your giant brooder/chicken suite lol! There were sooo many haha :p

I just bought a new camera today specifically to get pics of the birds and Zach's leopard geckos. Got tired of trying to get decent pics on the iPhones. They never come out the way I want! When I go up to the land next week, we are going to have a chicken photo shoot, so I expect the girls to do their best fashion model poses. :) And I'll be sure to get pics of the little babies when they hatch.

Corvidae, I'd like to see some of the property your chickens are on, if you don't mind. I like seeing peoples' setups as much as I do the chickens

Enjoy your new camera!

Lilwanis, I wasn't aware that the Houdans are now hatchery-only. It kind of makes me want to get some to start breeding them and improve the standard.

Lisa, thanks

Just don't know what to do anymore.

Lluvia, welcome!

Aww, JG......I've always thought they were cool. Wish I had room in my flock for some. Whereabouts are you located?

Lilwanis, so sorry about your Houdan.

Hattie, that boy(?) is beautiful! Hope you can find a good home for him.

Madchicken, I wish I lived closer, even though West Valley isn't that far away. I have a vacant incubator .... but I'm still a novice with it, too

If things get dire, give a shout and I'll see what I can do to help.

I had to go to IFA tonight to get more feed. Of course, I had to stop by the chicks and melt for a few minutes. They have some Polishes, Delawares, blue Wyandottes, and Brahmas at the Riverton IFA now. Nope, I still didn't get any. They had signs up that say you need to purchase a minimum of four chicks, I guess for warmth.

Came home to find a little mallard camping out on our lawn. I was very excited to have a duck here, even if only for one night, but he got nervous when I tried to gently herd him into the back yard and flew away. Pooh

Edit to say, the lawyer says two months still.

Two months? For sure for sure? I hope so! Won't it be great when this is all over with? Do you have eggs in the bator?

I haven't been on for a while, migraines, and it was all I could do to try to make a post once in a while on the Easter Hatch A Long. Now, the clouds are gone, no more pressure. Whew. It is so beautiful out there today, I keep going outside to look at my chickens. I made a few changes today. 4 Went outside, that left my little Japanese alone. Won't have any eggs hatch until next week..I am hatching some for a friend. So, you know what I HAD to do for this baby so it wouldn't be alone. I found that Cal Ranch got some EE's in. My goodness, those muffs on those babies, and the colors! Got one, my Japanese is still crying, I think it misses the others!

Hopefully by tomorrow it will settle down. The others are loving it outdoors. One is my little miracle..girl.

She's still smaller than the others. Red's girl is doing well. Turning into a different chicken. A lot of blue Red.

From what I have seen, there is still some hatching going on..and buying of chicks from hatcheries? Did you guys post any pictures? Come on! I want to see. I should take a picture of the EE, unreal fluff!

I have a RIR pullet..two and a half months old..if anyone wants a girl to start laying sooner than later. Nice dark red too. I kept two to watch, I just separated them today, they are doing better than I thought they would. I am not caring which one goes, they are both nice birds. Bought the eggs from a guy in Provo. He has been breeding for a while. Let me know if anyone wants a good pullet that will be laying soon. I will be asking 10 for her, because she will be laying in about 6 or 7 weeks.

Hope everyone is well. I see we have a new person...WELCOME new person! :D

Cynthia there you are! Glad you are feeling better, I thought something must be up you have been gone a bit. Well you know we want to see your EE baby, the poofs are always fun to look at :)

Hey is Texas a good place to get eggs from? I am trying to line up SG eggs, STILL..... (sigh) :th

Got the camera to work, though I'm still not the best photographer in the world. Have to take 15 pictures just to get one half-decent one. Anyway, here are the Welsummers--boy on the left, girl on the right. These 2 came out pretty distinctive for gender:

These are the other 2 chicks in the brooder with the Welsummers. They came from some "bonus" eggs a seller sent me. One is a Swedish Flower hen and the other is a Mille Fleur Leghorn. I haven't the faintest idea which is which, since I'm not very familiar with this breed, not do I know if they are boys or girls. Anyone know which is which? Anyone want them? I don't think I am going to have room for them, when all is said and done!
